2021 may be coming to an end, but South Park isn’t quite finished with this year. That’s because this week marks the premiere of Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s second exclusive special for Paramount+. With a name as intentionally dumb as “South Park: Post Covid: The Return of Covid”, we’re expecting great things.

Wondering how you can watch the new South Park? We have you covered.

When Does “South Park: Post Covid: The Return of Covid” Premiere?

We told you that South Park would be returning soon. The second of Paramount+’s 14 specials will premiere this Thursday, December 16. If its name wasn’t a giveaway, “The Return of Covid” will be a direct sequel to November’s “Post Covid.” Yep, someone really wants you to sign up for Paramount+.

What Time Will “South Park: Post Covid: The Return of Covid” Be on?

Typically, new Paramount+ originals premiere on the streaming service at 3/2c a.m. If you don’t see “The Return fo Covid” appear on the streaming service right away, don’t panic. Refresh your browser or app and it should be there.

Will “South Park: Post Covid: The Return of Covid” Be on Comedy Central? Will the New South Park Be on Comedy Central?

That’s a big no. South Park’s made-for-TV movies are Paramount+ originals, meaning they can only be found on that streaming service.

Will “South Park: Post Covid: The Return of Covid” Be on HBO Max? Will the New South Park Be on HBO Max?

Just like with Comedy Central, the South Park movies will not be coming to HBO Max. But this is where things get a bit trickier. All 23 seasons of South Park are only available to stream on HBO Max, not on Paramount+. So if you want to be a completist, or if you at least want to watch all four specials, you’re going to need both streaming services.

How to Watch “South Park: Post Covid: The Return of Covid” on Paramount+

The only way to watch new South Park is through a Paramount+ subscription. That’s a pretty easy thing to get. A premium plan costs $9.99/month, which means you can watch without ads. If you’re fine with the occasional ad, then the  $4.99/month plan may be a better option. Both of these plans come with a seven-day free trial, meaning you can try before you buy.

How Did “South Park: Post Covid” End?

Since this new special will be picking up where the last one left off, a recap is in order. “South Park” Post Covid” took place forty years after the “South ParQ Vaccination Special.” And, yes. COVID-19 was still a thing.

In this new, bleak world, Stan had to return to his home town for Kenny’s funeral. Treating Kenny’s death seriously was just one of about a billion winking jokes this special made. Other highlights included Kyle talking to his own non-Christmas poop and Cartman becoming a rabbi. Long story short, Stan, Kyle, and Cartman got to the bottom of Kenny’s research and realized who killed their friend. It was them all along.

Somehow, the death of their broship, which was covered in “South ParQ Vaccination Special” led to an endless hellscape full of COVID and singing doorbells. Now it’s up to these three boys to go back in time and fix everything. As long as they stop fighting, they have a chance. So the pandemic will likely win forever. Check it out on Paramount+ this Thursday, December 16.
