Robert Eggers, the esteemed director of The VVitch and The Lighthouse, is bringing his third film in what we’d now like to call “That Eerie The Franchise.” The first trailer for The Northman was unveiled today, and it combines two of his favorite lead stars — Willem Dafoe and Anya Taylor-Joy — in an absolutely epic action-fantasy that’s set to release next April. With both of Eggers previous films streaming online, when can we expect this new hit to be available? Let’s take a look.

The Northman is a genre-bending revenge thriller that’s set to follow a Viking prince as he seeks for justice against his wrongfully murdered father. Alongside Dafoe and Taylor-Joy, the star-studded cast also includes Alexander Skarsgard, Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Ethan Hawke, and Björk. Yes, Björk!

The Northman was released theatrically in the United States on April 22, 2022.

Good news to share! After grossing $12.2 million in its opening weekend and over $50 million worldwide to date, you are now able to rent and/or purchase The Northman on digital platforms like Amazon Prime, iTunes, Vudu, YouTube, Google Play, and more.

Will The Northman be on HBO Max or Netflix? Where will The Northman be streaming?

The Northman is a Focus Features/Universal release, so it won’t be released on either HBO Max or Netflix. The studio has announced that theatrical releases will drop on Peacock as early as 45 days after their release in theaters, meaning we could get The Northman on streaming around June 6. Nothing has been officially announced yet, though, but we’ll be sure to update this piece as soon as we know more.

Where are The VVitch and The Lighthouse streaming?
