Alyssa Milano Teases Netflix Dominatrix Thriller ‘Brazen’ on ‘The View’: “A Guilty Pleasure Getaway”

Alyssa Milano has a steamy new Netflix thriller you won’t want to miss. The actress is releasing Brazen tomorrow (Jan. 13), a crime drama that follows a mystery author as she attempts to solve the real world case of her sister’s murder. And lucky for us, Milano appeared on The View to tease the enticing new flick. After chatting about politics and activism, The View switched gears into the real breaking news.

In the clip debuted on today’s show, Graze (Milano) finds her sister’s dead body in the house with no explanation. The rest of the film, based on a novel of the same name by Nora Roberts, unpacks the murder, with Grace using her mystery prowess to connect the dots.

“I watched it with my husband Manny, we just loved it. It was like a guilty pleasure getaway, an armchair detective-like film,” co-host Sunny Hostin said. “In the film, you see these online encounters between women who are making a living as dominatrix, and the men who interact with them. You explore the themes of both female empowerment and toxic masculinity here.”

Milano was quick to sing the praises of her new film, which was directed by Monika Mitchell.

“That was what we hoped to accomplish. It’s based on a Nora Roberts book, a Nora Roberts book that is a true turn-pager. Or page-turner?” she said with a laugh. “But it’s about a crime writer who fights to find her sister’s killer. I think it’s got everything for escapism: it’s got mystery and action and, as we saw, a hot neighbor. Great performances by Sam Page. Malachi Weir is just so talented.”

The actress continued, providing a bit of behind-the-scenes stories for all fans excited for the thriller.

“We shot during the pandemic, which was really difficult and fascinating, a lesson on how if protocol is followed, we can actually prevent this thing,” Milano said. “We shot for three and a half months, it’s very hard to shoot a movie. We’re all in close quarters. Because the protocol was so strict, not one person got sick on the crew. It was a great experience for me.”

And now, just one day away from the film’s big release, Milano is excited for people to see the alluring new film. “I hope people love it,” she concluded. “I want to entertain people, and I’m just so grateful that Netflix gave me the opportunity to make this film.”
