Where to Watch ‘Navalny’

If you’ve heard about the well-received Sundance Film Festival documentary Navalny, a surprise film that debuted on January 25, 2022, you are surely as eager as us to check it out. The film about the Russian novichok poisoning scandal, which was made in secret, could not come at a better time as tensions rise between the U.S and its allies and Russia due to the ongoing Ukraine conflict.

The “documentary thriller” charts the events surrounding Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who fell gravely ill during a 2020 flight from Siberia to Moscow. He was hospitalized and evacuated to Berlin, Germany where authorities confirmed he had been poisoned with Novichok, a nerve agent that had been used in attacks on others who opposed the Russian government. President Vladimir Putin denied any involvement. During his recovery, Navalny and his team partnered with the investigative journalism outlet Bellingcat and other international news organizations to investigate his attempted assassination and find proof of the Kremlin’s involvement.
