Another day, another absolutely unhinged reveal on The Masked Singer. Deadline reports that former New York City mayor and recent Donald Trump ally Rudy Giuliani was revealed as a contestant during last week’s taping of a Season 7 episode. His appearance reportedly prompted judges Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke to walk offstage in protest, although the two eventually rejoined fellow judges Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger to stage a discussion with the contestant.

Giuliani’s episode is currently set to air next month, although it’s unclear which costumed alter ego he’ll be embodying. The theme of Season 7 is “The Good, The Bad and the Ugly,” and it will be up to individual viewers to decide which of these descriptors best applies to the controversial figure.

This isn’t the first time that the Fox game show has faced backlash for casting a controversial Conservative politician. In March 2020, The Masked Singer made headlines after unmasking Republican politician and former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin as The Bear. While it’s unclear which song Giuliani will perform, we can only hope that it won’t be as dystopian as Palin’s rendition of Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back.”

The Masked Singer Season 7 premieres Wednesday, March 9, at 8/7c on Fox. New episodes will be available to stream the next day on Hulu.
