New Movies On Demand: ‘House of Gucci,’ ‘Julia,’ ‘Last Looks,’ + More

Punxsatawney Phil saw his shadow this week, which means six more weeks to curl up on the couch and not feel bad about it. So why not watch one of this week’s new movies on VOD as a start? After it’s theatrical release, Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci is finally out on VOD, so I hope you’re ready for the killer fashions of the ’70s and ’80s, mixed with an equally retro soundtrack. And the heartwarming documentary Julia, about the life of Julia Child, is now available as well, made by the same production team that brought us RBG and the upcoming Gabby Giffords Won’t Back Down.

And in Last Looks, Charlie Hunnam stars as Charlie Waldo, a former LAPD cop who left the city to live a simple life, as all disgraced former cops like to do in movies. Waldo is hired by an alcoholic Hollywood actor named Alistair Pinch (Mel Gibson) to investigate who killed his wife (and clear him as a suspect) and, to quote that great philosopher David Lee Roth, sometimes the simple life ain’t so simple. Waldo’s peaceful existence is disrupted thanks to the new gig, and he finds himself dragged back into the criminal world he wanted to leave behind.

These are just a few of the titles that are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube, and through your cable service this week. Check out what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now!

House of Gucci

To some people, House of Gucci is so bad it’s good. To others it’s so bad it’s just bad. And to still others, it’s worth watching just for the “I’ma gonna eata some spaghetti” accents. Whatever your motives for watching, the highly anticipated movie that stars Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, and Al Pacino is now out on VOD. Gaga stars as Patrizia Reggiani, a woman who marries into the Gucci family and hatches a scheme to try and control the fashion brand. It’s a long road full of love affairs, fraud, and MURDER, as you probably know, and now it’s in your living room.

Julia

“She changed everything.” That’s what the voiceover in the trailer for Julia, the new documentary about the Le Cordon Bleau-trained chef Julia Child says about her, and it’s true. Before Julia, there were no celebrity chefs, there were no women in charge of restaurant kitchens, she became the face of a movement that’s a part of our everyday lives now. Featuring interviews with cooking icons José Andrés, Ina Garten and Jacques Pépin, the story of Julia’s life, training, and rise to fame is told lovingly, revealing just how much she impacted American culture.
