‘Better Call Saul’ to Return for Sixth and Final Season This April on AMC

Better Call Saul will return in just a few months. Ahead of their Television Critics Association (TCA) panel today, AMC revealed an April premiere date for the prestige drama TV show. The upcoming sixth season of the Breaking Bad spinoff will be the final one in the show, which began airing back in 2015. We’ll see you in just two short months!

“In my eyes, this is our most ambitious, surprising and, yes, heartbreaking season.  Even under incredibly challenging circumstances, the whole Saul team — writers, cast, producers, directors and crew — have outdone themselves. I couldn’t be more excited to share what we’ve accomplished together,” said Showrunner and Executive Producer Peter Gould.

The show’s official Twitter account teased the much-anticipated return of Bob Odenkirk‘s show just a few days ago, alerting fans to “mark their calendars” — without any actual date in the announcement. Say what? Instead of giving a release date or even month, the show hinted fans with the letters “D” and “R,” leaving sleuths to predict an April 18 release date as the letters are 4 and 18 in the alphabet, respectively.

In the first-released clip, we see some creepy-looking cowboy boots clomping their way to a crime scene. After we get that “D” and “R” tease, two gentlemen in glimmering suits saunter into the crime scene. Those infamously shiny suits indicate that these fellas are the fearless killers known as the Cousins.

The date was further teased today, when the show tweeted a clip with a suspiciously numbered address. In this new teaser, we see Giancarlo Esposito‘s Gus Fring retrieving his mail, walking into his home, and taking a deep breath. And what address does he live in? That’s right: 418. It’s been there all along!

The most recent season of Better Call Saul aired in April 2020, and has been on a bit of a hiatus thanks to the ongoing COVID pandemic. Last July, Odenkirk collapsed on set of the AMC show, suffering a minor heart attack. After six weeks of further pause on production, the recovered actor made his return and finished shooting the final season.

Better Call Saul‘s sixth and final season will premiere with two back-to-back episodes on April 18 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC and AMC+. The show will then roll out in two parts, with the first seven episodes debuting in the spring and the next batch set to return on July 11 for the final six episodes.
