‘Kingsman’ Prequel ‘The King’s Man’ Is Now Streaming On HBO Max and Hulu

If you’re in the mood to stay in this weekend, why not stay inside and catch up on new movies? Lots of 2021 theatrical releases are now available on streaming platforms at no additional cost, like Kingsman prequel The King’s Man. The film, which dives into the origins of the franchise’s secret spy organization, is now on HBO Mqx and Hulu just two months after hitting theaters.

Based on Mark Millar’s Kingsman comic book series, this WW1 prequel follows Orlando Oxford (Ralph Fiennes) as he races to stop a band of criminal masterminds from destroying humanity. And he helps found the Kingsman agency in the process, duh! The film also stars Gemma Arterton, Harris Dickinson, Rhys Ifans, and Stanley Tucci.

The cheapest way to watch The King’s Man at home is with a Hulu subscription. The streamer’s ad-supported plan costs $7 per month, while the ad-free, premium plan costs $13 per month. If you’d rather watch the film on HBO Max, the streamer offers both an ad-support plan ($10 per month) and an ad-free subscription ($15 per month).

The King’s Man debuted to mixed reviews. In his review, the New York Post‘s Johnny Oleksinski wrote: “[The King’s Man] is almost totally laugh-less, lacks a charismatic lead… and is bogged down by the trench warfare misery of World War I.”

Still, if you’re a fan of the Kingsman franchise, this entry marks an opportunity to learn even more about the raucous spy world that Taron Egerton’s Eggsy occupies.
