Daniel Radcliffe Transforms into Weird Al Yankovic in First Look At Roku Biopic

Harry Potter will become Weird Al Yankovic in an upcoming Roku biopic, which stars Daniel Radcliffe as the iconic satirical musician. WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story, which was announced just a few months ago, has released the very first look at Radcliffe stepping into the shoes (or rather, Hawaiian shirt) of the star. Although it’s a little tricky to see the full look, the transformation is slowly coming to fruition.

“It never fails – we’re trying to shoot a movie here, and this cosplayer weirdo tries to crash our set,” Yankovic himself jokingly shared on Twitter. “Ugh! I mean, I love my fans, but… boundaries, people! Don’t worry, we had security throw him out.”

But in reality, there’s no way security threw this fellow off set — because it’s Daniel Radcliffe himself! Roku shared the photo in an official release later, ready to hype up their very first biopic in the months leading up to release. While we don’t have an official premiere date for WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story quite yet, it’s clear that the production is already toiling away.

“Wearing the Hawaiian shirt is a huge responsibility that I don’t take lightly,” Radcliffe added, “and I’m honored to finally share with the world the absolutely 100 percent unassailably true story of Weird Al’s depraved and scandalous life.”

According to Roku’s description of the upcoming flick, “The biopic holds nothing back, exploring every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like ‘Eat It’ and ‘Like a Surgeon’ to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle. Weird: The Al Yankovic Story takes audiences on a truly unbelievable journey through Yankovic’s life and career, from gifted child prodigy to the greatest musical legend of all time.”

WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story was co-written by Yankovic himself alongside Eric Appel, who is set to direct the Funny Or Die and Tango production. Keep checking back for more release information on the music biopic.
