RELATED: New On Netflix March 2022
'Shrek'
Released March 1
Love it or hate it, Shrek is now on Netflix. In our opinion, this is an amazing addition to the streamer’s library — but we understand that folks are against the film. To each their own! The 2001 classic follows a grumpy Ogre and a hilarious donkey as they go on a mission to rescue Fiona, the sleepy princess trapped in a tower with a dragon. Best served with: onions, waffles, cake, etc.
'Sorry to Bother You'
Released March 1
We won’t spoil the major twist in Sorry to Bother You, but we will tell you that there is one, and it’s absolutely BONKERS. The Boots Riley film follows LaKeith Stanfield as a telemarketer with a killer “white voice” who sells products with questionable ethics. After he rises to the top of the totem pole in phone call sales, he begins making deals with some fishy folks, upsetting his friends and sweet girlfriend Detroit (Tessa Thompson).
'V for Vendetta'
Released March 1
One of Natalie Portman’s early roles, V for Vendetta follows the A-List actress as she befriends a villainous mastermind “V.” Donning a Guy Fawkes mask, the vigilante teaches her character about the various political cruelties of England. The film is based on a DC comic, and certainly feels like it might belong in something like The Dark Knight universe. As The Batman releases in theaters this month, why not set the tone with this flick?
'Against the Ice'
Released March 2
Take a trip to Greenland with Against the Ice, which will debut on Netflix this month. The movie, which is based on the true story of the 1909 Denmark expedition, follows a survival story. Two men explore Greenland’s vast landscape, hunting for a lost map, struggling to stay alive. It’s the perfect film to get you excited for warmer days, that’s for sure!
'The Weekend Away'
Released March 3
Gossip Girl‘s finest fashionista will bring her shimmering headbands and sassy attitude abroad in this upcoming psychological thriller. Don’t let the gorgeous ocean view and lovely ladies in the photo above deceive you: this is not a happy-go-lucky film by any stretch of the imagination. When her best friend goes missing on a girl’s trip to Croatia, Beth tries to hunt her down — only to find deception after deception leading her down the wrong paths.
'The Adam Project'
Released March 11
After his major hit Red Notice, Ryan Reynolds returns to Netflix with another mind-bending flick called The Adam Project. Though it stars Jennifer Garner and has a rom-com sounding title, don’t be confused by this one: The Adam Project is a time travel sci-fi drama. The film stars a time-traveling pilot who accidentally crash lands in 2022, forced to team up with his 12-year-old self on a mission to save the future from catastrophe
'Dunkirk'
Released March 12
Watch Christopher Nolan’s big war film when it lands on Netflix this March, a harrowing-yet-brilliant look at the events that took place in May 1940. Taking place completely out of order, you’ll have a fascinating time trying to piece together what, exactly, is happening at any given point in the film. We recommend pairing this with fellow WWII film Darkest Hour, which takes a closer look at Winston Churchill’s administration at the same time.
'Marilyn's Eyes'
Released March 15
Love food? Love movies? Love movies about food? Marilyn’s Eyes is for you. This quirky Italian comedy promises to bring you all the luck you need right before St. Patty’s Day, set to follow a creative pair working together at a psychiatric hospital. In order to bridge the gap between them, they’ll need to use food. Why? They plan to bring a fictional restaurant to life, and the only recipe they need is for healing.
'Rescued by Ruby'
Released March 17
Rescued by Ruby has exactly what we needed: a sweet pup and an even sweeter story to go along with it. Grant Gustin’s (known for The Flash) new movie follows a state trooper with dreams of joining an elite K-9 unit. In order to do so, he partners with another underdog named Ruby, a sweet dog who seems to be unfit for the role. Together, the naughty dog and the unlikely hero form a bond that’ll hopefully stand the test of time.
'Black Crab'
Released March 18
This apocalyptic Swedish flick will keep you up all night, fearful of the future. Set in a dystopian future, Black Crab follows a young mother who sets out on a mission to both save her daughter and end the war. Akin to movies like Train to Busan, Black Crab promises to have both thrills and heart-wrenching familial moments. Though she’s reluctant, the young soldier fights on to cross the frozen sea, carrying a super important message with her.
'Windfall'
Released March 18
Three beloved actors star in Windfall, which looks as provocative as ever. Jason Segel leads the film as a nomad searching for funds when he stumbles upon a rich mogul’s (Jesse Plemons) empty mansion. He crashes until the rich fellow reappears with his wife (Lily Collins) — and then he attacks. The struggling man begs the mogul to help, pressing him to share the wealth in more ways than one, and things get kind of weird.
