Is ‘Daredevil’ on Disney Plus? Where to Stream ‘Daredevil’ Now That It’s Left Netflix

UPDATE: Marvel and Disney have announced that all of the Netflix series — every season of Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Marvel’s Luke Cage, Marvel’s Iron Fist, Marvel’s The Defenders, and Marvel’s The Punisher — as well as Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will premiere on Disney+ on March 16. Original article continues as originally published below.

And just like that — *snap* — the heroes disappeared. Just as was reported a few weeks ago, Netflix’s entire lineup of Marvel television shows has disappeared from the streaming service. The change came as the calendar turned from February to March, leaving Netflix without its defenders: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, or Punisher.

So, what’s next for Matt Murdock and this scrappy assortment of rough and tumble heroes? Surely they can’t just be gone. Or… can they? Here’s what we know about the fate of the Marvel Television/Netflix series.

Is Daredevil on Disney+? What about the other Marvel/Netflix shows?

No, you cannot stream Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s Jessica Jones, or any of the rest on Disney+ — unless you live in Canada. All of the Marvel/Netflix shows will premiere on Disney+ in Canada on March 16 — yes, every single one, from Daredevil to Punisher. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for Disney+ in the US or around the world. So if you’re a Canadian Marvel fan, you just have to endure two weeks without watching Misty Knight be a badass. For the rest of us, we’ll have to get our Kingpin fix from Hawkeye… for the foreseeable future.

Where to stream Daredevil

You can stream Daredevil, Luke Cage, Defenders, etc. on Disney+ in Canada beginning on March 16. And… that’s it. That’s all we know for now. Disney and Marvel have made no announcements just yet about where the shows are going, or if they’re even going anywhere.

But considering that they are all streaming in Canada, it seems unlikely that the shows are going into a vault. It’s more realistic to assume that there’s some legal red tape that’s keeping all of the Marvel/Netflix shows from immediately jumping from Netflix to Disney+ in the States or to Hulu (which is also owned by Disney and exclusive to the United States).

The only good news as of right now: if you had a Marvel avatar attached to your Netflix profile, it’s still there.

Why did Daredevil leave Netflix? Why did all the Marvel shows leave Netflix?

You can read more about this peculiar but not unprecedented occurrence in Decider’s previous report, but to sum up: the superhero shows were made by Marvel Television, not by Netflix. That means that Netflix licensed the rights to stream those shows, and now those rights have lapsed. But even though this has taken all of us by surprise, Marvel Studios has definitely known that this day was coming for a while. Just look at the timing: we got Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin on Hawkeye within a week of each other in December 2021. Coincidence? Probably not.

Now we just have to wait and see where these heroes will pop up next, and hopefully their absence from streaming will be shorter than The Blip.
