Apologies to penguins everywhere, but The Batman is not the best Colin Farrell movie out this weekend. That honor belongs to After Yang, the new sci-fi drama from Korean filmmaker Kogonada, which was quietly released by A24 on Showtime and in theaters this weekend.
Best known for his 2017 film Columbus, Kogonada constructs a gorgeous, understated futuristic utopia in After Yang—a world in which hyper-realistic AI androids are available for purchase like the modern iPhone. Farrell stars opposite Jodie Turner-Smith as a husband and wife who have purchased a robot of Chinese descent for their adopted Chinese daughter, in the hopes that he can help her feel more connected to her culture. But when that robot, Yang (played by Justin H. Min) malfunctions, the entire family is faced with what it means to be human.
After Yang first premiered at Cannes Film Festival last year and has already been hailed by critics as one of the year’s best films. You don’t want to miss it, so here’s what to know about where to watch After Yang and how to stream After Yang on Showtime.

As of today, you can watch After Yang streaming on Showtime, free to all subscribers. You can also catch an airing of After Yang on the Showtime TV channel on Friday, March 4 at 9 pm. ET/PT.
