27 Things We Learned from the ‘Love Is Blind’ Season 2 Reunion

Reality TV fans know that a season finale is never the end of the story — and that is incredibly true for Love Is Blind. After seeing which couples went through with their nuptials and which ones called it quits last week, it’s now time for the reunion. And if any show is gonna serve up a chaotic reunion, it is without a doubt Love Is Blind.

The Love Is Blind reunion is now streaming on Netflix and it certainly lives up to — perhaps even surpasses — all expectations. And in case you’re wondering, yes, the entire cast has seen the entire season — and they’ve all experienced the online reactions to all of the season’s big moments. This face-to-face between all the cast members is every bit as awkward and tense as you’d expect, and even hosts Nick Lachey and Vanessa Lachey have some words to say to a certain person.

While there are still a few questions lingering in our minds, this reunion did provide a lot of concrete answers and major moments that will have fans of this show talking for a while. SPOILERS ahead, because we gotta talk about the most shocking moments in the Love Is Blind Season 2 reunion.

1. The couples are still married.

The two couples who got married — Danielle and Nick, Jarrette and Iyanna — are still married. They’re so married that they coordinate outfits: Danielle and Nick are both in blue, and Jarrette and Iyanna are both in red.

2. Shayne regrets gaslighting Natalie after confusing her with Shaina in the pods.

“That was easily the biggest mistake I made on the show,” said Shayne. “I played the victim card right away and tried to defend myself… I’m honestly ashamed of the fact that I just went into straight attack mode. I really wish I would have let her speak.”

3. Shayne shouldn’t have asked Natalie to be his girlfriend… while he was still talking to Shaina in the pods.

“I got caught up in the moment of the situation,” he said. “I felt like I needed to, and I wanted to I guess, assert [to] her, like, this is where I stand and whatnot. That’s the way I did it and I should not have said that either.”

4. So, Shake’s big takeaway is that the show is about finding love, not finding a wife.

Literally everyone disagrees with him.

5. Natalie felt betrayed by both Shayne and Shaina while watching their whole thing play back on the show.

It’s not easy hearing that the guy you’re in love with could’ve changed his mind about everything if only this other woman had been honest about her feelings a couple days earlier. Natalie was totally not aware that Shayne had such strong feelings for Shaina.

6. Shaina felt manipulated by Kyle using his mom’s engagement ring to propose.

Yeah, she said that. Okay — she also fully acknowledges that she shouldn’t have said yes, and Shaina apologized to Natalie for making one last pass at Shayne right before he proposed to her. Kyle was surprised to hear Shaina say that, though: “How special you should have felt — I would be so honored.”

7. Literally everyone hates Shake.

Shake accuses Kyle and Shaina of essentially conspiring to go through with an engagement that they knew wouldn’t work simply because they wanted airtime. The entire cast’s unanimous, collective groan, sigh, and eye roll is something to behold. “I just can’t believe the words that are coming out of his mouth,” says Shayne. Shayne is the voice of reason here.

8. Nick unfollowed Shake.

“I unfollowed you because you are so unbearable,” said Nick. “You think everybody thinks the same way as you, and that’s the problem. No one thinks the way you think.”

9. Iyanna and Jarrette did not watch Jarrette’s proposal to Mallory together.

Iyanna says watching Jarrette and Mallory’s whole storyline was “almost re-traumatizing.” Vanessa Lachey relates to Iyanna though, because she is Nick Lachey’s second wife; she knows what it’s like to be with a man whose first marriage was on national TV. “That was our journey, and I never thought I would be someone’s second wife,” said Lachey. “I found this guy and this is how it was supposed to be.” And Iyanna wants to make it clear: none of her anger was ever directed at Mallory. This was always between her and Jarrette, and they’ve clearly worked through that drama.

10. Jarrette told Sal that the whole convo with Mal about her engagement ring was a joke.

Sal, however, did not take it like a joke when he saw the conversation unfold on TV. “Guys, that was disrespectful of y’all,” said Sal. “Either one of you could have stopped that conversation immediately… But you told me it was a fucking joke, bro.” Jarrette says that it was “100% was a joke” that was taken too far and taken out of context. Whatever the case, Jarrette is remorseful and Sal forgives Jarrette.

11. Most of Nick and Danielle’s disagreements came from just being in the experiment.

“It’s crazy because I think that the pressure of saying ‘I do’ or ‘I don’t’ had us in this pressure cooker where we were constantly getting in these disagreements where we were really just trying to figure out whether or not it would work,” explained Danielle. “And once we got into real life, a lot of the disagreements that we had ended up being nonexistent.”

12. Danielle and Nick have… had sex on their kitchen table?

The whole dancing-on-tables thing comes up and, after Danielle says that Nick just has much sturdier furniture than her, Shayne jokingly infers that Danielle and Nick were testing it out by having sex on their kitchen table. Everyone starts cackling and Danielle says, “That has actually also happened, sorry.” Then Danielle says that they do have dance parties in the kitchen, which makes it unclear if she’s talking about sex or dancing. She then says that Nick actually gets on the table before she does — or, as Nick clarifies, “the island in the center [of the kitchen] is granite.” Whatever — there’s a lot of physical activity going on in the kitchen.

13. Danielle now wears an additional wedding ring.

“Over Christmas, [Nick’s] uncle surprised me with his great-grandma’s wedding ring,” said Danielle. “It felt like I was proposed to all over again by [Nick].”

14. Mallory and Sal did meet up again after their non-wedding.

“We met up for coffee and chatted,” said Mallory. “But I think at the end of the day, the connection just wasn’t really there and we just understood that it didn’t make sense to really continue on.”

15. There was more going on between Sal and Mal than we saw.

What that was, however, is still a mystery. “There were just things that happened that I just don’t really feel comfortable saying, because it’s pointless now,” said Sal. “It’s our history, you know? Call it karma. Call it whatever. I just don’t think it’s necessary to say.” He does say that he often felt unheard during arguments with Mallory.

16. Shake gives everyone plenty of reasons to hate him.

This is when Shake interjects in Sal and Mallory’s segment and, instead of offering any firsthand insight into their relationship as someone who was actually around them at times, he just… offers the surface-level observations that any at-home viewer could make.

“Number one, your situation with Jarrette. That whole situation and the aftermath of that, I think that was an uncomfortable thing,” said Shake, saying nothing new. “Number two, your ex-girlfriend. I think, in your shoes, that’s going to sour a relationship. Once you shatter the vase, you can’t put it back together.”

Then Natalie calls Shake out for talking about things he clearly does not understand, and Sal clarifies that this “ex-girlfriend” was not his girlfriend. Jarrette then accuses Shake of just wanting to “break people down,” which, where is the lie? Then Shake gets defensive and says, after telling Shayne to shut up, “What I’ve seen is a bunch of people that were so real in the beginning turn fake as fuck as we’ve gone through this.”

Then Jarrette reads Shake like a book: “You came on here for all the wrong reasons and you know that. Everybody can see through how shallow you are.”

17. Shake says that getting engaged is “not that different than making a huge purchase.”

Jesus Christ.

Okay. Shake says that when you’re making this type of commitment, “you have to read the fine print on that.” To Shake, the fine print is weight. “If I were to marry somebody and there was a big weight discrepancy, it would be very hard for me to get past that.”

During this entire monologue, Deepti is laughing to herself and whispering, “This is a joke.”

18. Vanessa Lachey does not like Shake.

After hearing Shake equate getting married to making a purchase, and thus equating a woman to property, Vanessa calmly says to Shake, “I think you were on, if I may, the wrong show. And what I mean by that is, there are shows where they are based on their looks and if they have a connection. But what I’m saying is you need to open your heart to a bigger picture because at the end of the day, what if she’s mangled in an accident? What if she gains weight? What if she loses her hair, legs, and her arms? Are you not gonna love her anymore?”

Then Vanessa gets justifiably righteous: “I hope to God if I’m mangled, knock on fucking wood, this man [emphatically points to Nick Lachey] stands by my side and I know he will, because he loves me for me.”

Then Shake starts clapping for this speech, as if Vanessa Lachey is not coming for him?

She continues: “So the problem I have, Shake, is that you sat there and berated every single one of these women physically, and then you went through the process with this beautiful soul over here all because you wanted someone you wanted to fuck, not fall in love with.”

Preach.

19. Shake has a pitch for Netflix: Love Is Blurry.

Nick steps in and is like, dude, what did you want from this specific show? “I want the emotional connection,” said Shake. “Everything that we know the show is supposed to do, but there’s also certain criteria there that goes beyond the emotional connection.” So… not Love Is Blind. “I want it to be partially blind. I want it to be Love Is Blurry.”

20. Shake is attracted to Vanessa Lachey.

In a startling example of not being able to read a room and a shocking lack of self awareness, Shake says that the only woman on stage that he is attracted to is Vanessa Lachey. He says this in front of her husband, Nick Lachey. Shake digs himself deeper: “And I wish I wasn’t! The point is, it’s not a choice.”

“And I’ve done nothing but berate you this entire time,” said Vanessa. “That’s a messed-up relationship.”

21. Nick Lachey really does not like Shake.

Then, off of everyone on stage cringing at this entire exchange, Shake — a veterinarian and part-time DJ — exclaims, “It’s nature, baby! We’re animals!”

“No, you treat animals. We’re human beings,” said Nick Lachey. “I can see now why you don’t treat human beings.”

Shake’s only response to what Nick said? “The vet community is not gonna like that.”

“I like a vet as much as the next guy,” said Nick,” but I don’t like people who treat human beings like you do. It’s wrong.”

22. What we saw of Shake was “watered down” from what really happened.

Apparently he said even shadier things about his fiancee? And, as Deepti says, everyone — from all the girls to Shayne and Jarrette — warned her to not marry Shake.

23. Shaina said yes to Kyle because she thought she should try being with someone who isn’t a Christian.

“I thought for a second, ‘I’ve been with a Christian before. It didn’t work.’ Right? So I was having this internal struggle with, ‘Do I give [a relationship with Kyle] an open mind? Just because they’re Christian doesn’t mean they’re a good person,'” explained Shaina. “I felt that you were a good person, so I was like, ‘Do I give it a shot?’ It was an internal struggle for me. At the end of the day, long story short, it was the religion for sure.”

24. Kyle’s biggest regret? He should have proposed to Deepti.

Bombshell! Apparently Kyle and Deepti were connecting in the pods, and the show gave us none of that. “I should have asked Deepti to marry me,” said Kyle after talking about how much time he wasted with Shaina. “That’s what I learned the most. I fucked up. I fucked up. I should have tried harder for you. I mean, I love her so much. She’s the best and I wish I saw what was right in front of me.”

Then, naturally, Shake inserts himself into the conversation by saying that he would love that for the two of them, and Kyle responds, “Yeah, it pisses me off because you wasted such a good opportunity.” Shake says he’d be “happy to facilitate” Kyle and Deepti connecting, as if either of them want him anywhere near them.

25. Natalie and Shayne tried to make their relationship work after filming.

After Natalie said “I don’t,” the two tried to give it another shot, but Natalie found it impossible to move on past the argument they had the night before their wedding. Regarding that argument, Shayne says he’s apologized multiple times for that night and that he didn’t really mean what he drunkenly said (that he hated her and she was the worst thing that happened to him). Natalie confirmed that both she and Shayne were all set to say “I do” before Shayne came home from his bachelor party totally drunk. Shayne, however, said that he wanted a more concrete apology from Natalie for making him feel like he wasn’t enough for her. She does apologize for that, and everyone on stage (except for Shake, presumably) just feels generally bummed out for these two because apparently they could all feel how genuine their connection was before that fateful fight.

26. Shayne and Shaina are… just friends?

When Vanessa asks Shayne about Shaina, he cuts her off and shuts the door on that line of questioning. “Here’s the deal,” he said, “I’m not getting into that conversation.” This surprises Shaina, who gives him a confused squint look. Vanessa clarifies that she just wants to know if they’ve seen each other between filming and the reunion, and he says “Yes.”

Vanessa then tries to put her question in context, saying she just wants to know what — generally — has gone on since filming since, y’know, that’s what a reunion is for. There is nothing but awkward, tense silence from Shayne… so Vanessa redirects her question to Shaina who, completely mystified by Shayne’s stressful energy, says, “Yeah… there’s nothing. We were always just friends. There was nothing ever romantic afterwards.”

So… moving on.

27. Iyanna and Jarrette had sex in Mexico.

Just once! Yeah, so, Iyanna did say that she was wanting to save sex with Jarrette for marriage — which isn’t that crazy since that meant waiting, what, two weeks? But yes, they did have sex in Mexico — just once!
