NBC Shows To Air On Peacock This Fall Following End Of Hulu TV Deal

Don’t expect to see shows like Saturday Night Live and The Voice on Hulu later this year. According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBCUniversal has ended its content sharing deal with the streamer. Starting this fall, NBC series will no longer be available on Hulu the next day. Instead, you’ll be able to find them on Peacock, the network’s own streaming service.

This news comes as NBCU and parent company Comcast struggle to attract paying subscribers to Peacock. During Comcast’s fourth-quarter earnings call in January, NBCU revealed that the streaming service has just 9 million paid subscribers out of 24.5 million active accounts in total.

As The Wall Street Journal first reported in February, Peacock has had to share much of NBC’s library with Hulu up until this point. This is because the pact between Comcast granting the Disney-owned company access to its content was put into motion in 2019, and Peacock didn’t officially launch until April 2020.

However, that doesn’t mean that all of Hulu’s NBC programming will magically disappear at the start of the fall TV season. Since the recently terminated deal only applies to currently airing seasons of television, Hulu will retain the rights to NBCU’s catalogue for several more years. This includes content like 30 Rock, Friday Night Lights, Law & Order: SVU, The Mindy Project, Parenthood, and Will & Grace.
