‘Pitch Perfect’ Star Skylar Astin Joins ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ In Recurring Role

Skylar Astin is checking into Grey Sloan Memorial. The Pitch Perfect and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist star has joined Grey’s Anatomy in a recurring role.

According to Variety, the actor will first appear in the March 24 episode, “Put the Squeeze on Me”, playing a character named Todd Eames. Here’s the official logline for Astin’s character: “Charming and handsome with a gentle soul, Eames holds a PhD in environmental sciences and loves a good spreadsheet. He is close with his sister, who is a pregnant patient at Grey Sloan Memorial.”

In a first look at Astin’s upcoming episode, he appears to share quite a few scenes with OB-GYN resident Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington). Could he wind up rivaling Link (Chris Carmack) for Jo’s affections? We’ll have to wait and see.

Astin’s recent TV credits include Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. He’s also appeared in Pitch Perfect 2, Graves, Hot Air, Wreck It Ralph, Ground Floor, and Girls.

In 2019, Grey’s Anatomy made history as the longest-running American medical drama in history. The series was recently renewed for a nineteenth season, with star Ellen Pompeo reprising her iconic role as Meredith Grey.

And who knows? Maybe Todd will wind up sticking around throughout the next few seasons. Even after almost 20 years, Grey’s Anatomy is no stranger to drawing in enticing new stars.

Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
