Bachelor Nation Slams Clayton Echard For Angry Outburst: “The Villain Of His Own Season”

The Bachelor has been teasing this season’s ending for months now, and it’s finally happened. Clayton Echard told all three of his finalists that he’s in love with them, which didn’t go over particularly well during his date with contestant Susie Evans. When she decided to send herself home, his petulant response prompted some major backlash from Bachelor Nation.

During the pair’s Fantasy Suites date, Susie admitted that she wouldn’t be able to get engaged to Clayton if he’d expressed his love for or slept with anyone else. When Clayton admitted he’d done just that, he grew increasingly angry when she decided to self-eliminate.

“I don’t believe in anything anymore,” Clayton huffed. “Everything is literally invalidated.”

After the lead took a moment to chat with host Jesse Palmer, things got even more heated. “I don’t even know who I’m looking at anymore,” Clayton told Susie. “You just dropped a bombshell on me. And I don’t agree at all with how you went about this. I think it’s BS. I’m done.”

Ironically, the episode aired on International Women’s Day! Suffice it to say, audiences at home were not impressed with Clayton’s angry outburst.

“Clayton getting mad at Susie for not explicitly telling him she’d be mad if he boned the other women proves the bar is truly in the basement for men,” one fan wrote.

Another viewer concurred, tweeting: “Scary that’s how Clayton talks to the women he ‘loves.’ You dodged a bullet Susie.”

Based on the finale preview, Clayton’s remaining two contestants don’t seem particularly pleased about his behavior, either. Could our Bachelor end up alone at the end of all this? ABC loves to tell fans that each season is the most dramatic yet, but one thing’s for sure — Clayton’s “After the Final Rose” special is about to be a rollercoaster.
