‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’: Ewan McGregor Returns In First Trailer For Disney+ Series

Hello there! Today, Disney+ released the first trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi, the highly anticipated Star Wars show starring Ewan McGregor. Set 10 years after the devastating events of Revenge of the Sith, the limited series follows its titular hero as he searches for hope amid the Empire’s quest to wipe out all remaining Jedi.

As anyone who’s seen New Hope might expect, Obi-Wan Kenobi opens with our protagonist hiding out on Tattoine and watching over a young Luke Skywalker, all while reeling from the downfall of his Jedi apprentice-turned-evil Sith Lord Darth Vader (once again played by Hayden Christensen).

“The fight is done,” Obi-Wan says mournfully. “We lost. Stay hidden.”

However, things take a dangerous turn when he seemingly becomes the target of Jedi hunters. If you’re as sick of a certain sand planet as I am, good news! As the trailer shows, Obi-Wan Kenobi will also journey to some exciting new planets, like the metropolotian, Hong Kong-esque planet of Daiyu.

Given that Obi-Wan sticks around to help a whiny teenage Luke begin his Jedi training, I’m not too worried his fate. Still, with McGregor and Christensen reuniting to tell a new story about some of Star Wars‘ most iconic characters, there’s lots to be excited about. But most importantly, will Obi-Wan dramatically shed his Jedi robes as often as he does in the prequels? Inquiring minds want to know.

Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s cast also includes Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson, Sung Kang, SImone KEssell, and Benny Saftie.

The series is directed by The Mandalorian‘s Deborah Chow and executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, McGregor, and Joby Harold.

Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres May 25 on Disney+. Scroll up to watch the official teaser trailer.
