‘This Is Us’ Fans Demand An Emmy For Mandy Moore Following Emotional Episode: “Acting Her Butt Off”

Mandy Moore: Emmy winner? It could happen, and This Is Us fans are clamoring for the actress to take home a trophy after her powerful performance in last night’s episode of the NBC drama.

As viewers of the show will know, her character Rebecca Pearson has been dealing with early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease. The latest episode was particularly emotional, following her through Thanksgiving holidays from the ’70s to the present day. Towards the end of the episode, Rebecca gathered her three children and emotionally explained her end-of-life care plans.

“You will not make your life smaller because of me,” she told her sons and daughter. “I am your mother, and I am sick, and I am asking you to be fearless.”

She added that if her husband Miguel (Jon Huertas) dies before she does, her daughter Kate (Chrissy Metz) will be the decision-maker about her care.

“You are my daughter and my best friend,” Rebecca tells her. “It was always you, Kate.”

Choked up yet? This Is Us fans certainly were, as many viewers took to Twitter to demand that Moore receive Emmy recognition for her turn as Rebecca.

“Why has Mandy Moore NEVER been Emmy nominated for her role as Rebecca??” one fan tweeted. “That scene was EVERY BIT WORTHY OF AN EMMY.”

Another viewer added: “Yeah go ahead and give the writers of This Is Us and Mandy Moore their Emmy nominations ’cause whew!”

This Is Us airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on NBC.
