Netflix’s latest has everything you could want in a thriller: action, suspense, lies based around the Witness Protection program, and a mother who will stop at nothing to protect her daughter. The only thing it doesn’t have is more episodes. That’s where we come into play.

Will There Be a Season 2 of Pieces of Her?

With this one, it’s too early and too difficult to say which direction Netflix will go. Pieces of Her is based on the 2018 novel of the same name by author Karin Slaughter. Since the Netflix series seems to end roughly the same way as the novel, the show has covered its source material. That’s a pretty good argument for this being a one-season hit.

But then there’s the series’ popularity to consider, as well as the show’s ending. According to Netflix’s self-reported numbers, Pieces of Her has spent a week as one of Netflix’s most popular shows with over 53 million hours viewed. If those numbers continue, that’s a good argument for renewing the series. And since the Netflix show concludes in a more open-ended way than the novel, a Season 2 is possible.

The bottom line? Pieces of Her Season 2 could happen. But it’s all up to Netflix at this point.

When Will Pieces of Her Season 2 Premiere?

So let’s say a ton of people continue to watch Pieces of Her and it becomes a massive hit Netflix wants to renew. When could we expect new episodes? Season 1 was ordered in 2019 for eight episodes. Between 2020 and early 2021, the series was cast, which means that production didn’t really get started until then. Based on this timeline, it takes roughly a year to make another season of Pieces of Her. If there are new episodes, we can likely expect to see them in 2023.

As we’ve covered before, Season 1 ended with Andy (Bella Heathcote) meeting her mom, Laura / Jane (Toni Collette) on a beach. They share a rare moment of peace and understanding. But that happiness doesn’t last. U.S. Marshall Michael (Jacob Scipio) now knows about the cult and Jane’s various crimes. Will he turn in his girlfriend’s mom? Then there’s Jasper (David Wenham), the current CEO of the nefarious pharmaceutical company Quellcorp. He bugged Andy’s phone, so when Andy confessed to Michael about her mother’s many, many crimes, he heard everything. We don’t know what he’s going to do with that information, but if there’s a Season 2, it won’t be good.
