‘Wheel of Fortune’ Fans Stunned After Pat Sajak Berates Contestant For “Most Pointless Story Ever”

Even Pat Sajak has his moments sometimes! During Wednesday’s Wheel of Fortune episode, the normally affable host wasn’t too impressed with one contestant’s story and didn’t hold back from telling him just that. Naturally, fans were stunned.

For context: During the player interviews, contestant Scott Ingwersen revealed that he once “chopped” his big toe off.

“Why are you telling this?” Sajak asked.

“It’s important to know that when I was 12 years old, I was riding a 10-speed bike with flip-flops, and I fell and completely cut off the top of my toe,” Ingwersen explained. “The next car that came by were two paramedics that were on their way to their job, and they said, ‘It’s just a laceration.’ But I didn’t know what that was, so it freaked me out even more. And my toe is reattached, and I just wanna say thank you to them 30 years later.”

Although the audience applauded, Sajak had some harsh words for the contestant.

“That may have been the most pointless story ever told. And you told it, Scott,” he told Ingerwersen. “Congratulations to you.”

Many Wheel of Fortune viewers weren’t too pleased by Sajak’s reaction, and took to social media to call him out.

“When did #Patsajak get so cold-blooded?” one fan wrote.

Another viewer wrote: “Pat Sajak is such an asshole who says to someone ‘that’s the most pointless story ever’ when someone is opening up on national TV???”

Just last week, Sajak called for fans who were mocking contestants to “have a little heart.” Maybe he should practice taking his own advice!

Wheel of Fortune airs weeknights at 7:30/6:30c on ABC.
