Marilyn Miglin, HSN Host Played by Judith Light in ‘American Crime Story’, Dead at 83

Marilyn Miglin, a longtime host on the Home Shopping Network, has died from complications from a stroke at the age of 83. In addition to owning her own cosmetics brand and hosting her own show on the TV shopping channel for decades, Miglin is also remembered as the widow of Lee Miglin, whose death was featured in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.

Lee Miglin was murdered by serial killer Andrew Cunanan in May, 1997. Cunanan had already killed two men by the time he tortured and killed Lee Miglin in his Chicago home. Cunanan would later go on to kill fashion designer Gianni Versace in July, 1997, and the story of his crime spree would be told in Ryan Murphy limited series The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.

Actor Mike Farrell portrayed Lee Miglin in the series, and Judith Light portrayed Marilyn and earned an Emmy nomination for her performance. When the series premiered in 2018, Light said of the woman she portrayed, “I have great admiration for her. She’s an incredible businesswoman. She’s an incredible person. She was out there in the business world in a major way, early, early on. She found a partner who supported her efforts. I mean that’s pretty fantastic, talking about today and really making sure that women are paid equally and operating at a high level in the workplace. I have great respect for her.”

Marilyn Miglin leaves behind her two children with Lee, Marlena and Duke Miglin.
