Mike Myers Returns in Netflix’s First Trailer for ‘The Pentaverate’: Watch Here

Mike Myers is back and he’s doing what Mike Myers does best, playing multiple roles in a vehicle he has created. The Netflix series The Pentaverate is about a secret society of five men living in the year 1347, who discover that the Black Plague is caused by rats, and is not, as the church has led people to believe, a punishment from God. Using their science-based knowledge, these five men band together to call themselves The Pentaverate, and attempt to change the course of history for the better, all while keeping their existence a secret.

Myers dons numerous prosthetics to play eight different roles in the six-episode series, which also stars Ken Jeong, Debi Mazar, Keegan-Michael Key, Richard McCabe, Lydia West, and Jennifer Saunders. Jeremy Irons also serves as the narrator of the series, which premieres on Netflix on May 5.

That premiere date again is 5/5, in case you’re looking for Pentaverate-related Easter eggs. Myers also recently joined Instagram in an effort to promote the series, and you’ll notice that almost every one of his posts has to do with the show or the number 5 in some subtle and not-so-subtle ways.

It would seem that this Pentaverate has nothing to do with the Pentaverate Myers references in his 1993 film So I Married An Axe Murderer, where one of the characters he plays states that The Pentaverate is a “secret society of the five wealthiest people in the world, who run everything,” those people being “The Queen, The Vatican, The Gettys, The Rothschilds, and Colonel Sanders before he went tits up.”
