Is ‘Alice’ on HBO Max or Netflix? When Will the Keke Palmer Movie Be Streaming?

The upcoming crime thriller Alice is not your typical film about slavery. Written and directed by Krystin Ver Linden, Alice stars Keke Palmer as a woman is enslaved on a plantation in Georgia, in what she believes is the 19th century. But when she escapes, she realizes actually, the year is 1973—slavery has been abolished for over a century, and the Black Power movement is underway.

Alice meets a truck driver named Frank (played by rapper Common) who helps her adjust to the times, and, eventually, he agrees to help Alice exact a plan of revenge on her former plantation owner, Paul Bennet, played by Jonny Lee Miller.

It’s certainly a fascinating set-up for a movie. Though the film saw mixed reviews when it premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, you may want to check it out for yourself. Here’s what you need to know about where to watch Alice and when to expect Alice on streaming.

WHERE TO WATCH THE NEW KEKE PALMER MOVIE ALICE:

For now, the only place to watch Alice is in a movie theater when the film opens on Friday, March 18. You find a screening of Alice at a theater near you here. After its theatrical run, you will be able to purchase Alice on digital platforms like Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, Vudu, and more.

WHEN WILL ALICE (2022) BE ON STREAMING?

A digital release date for Alice has not yet been announced, and it’s hard to say when Alice will come to video-on-demand. The movie is a joint release from Roadside Attractions and Vertical Entertainment, whose last movie in theaters, The Desperate Hour, came to video-on-demand simultaneously, in a day-and-date release. Alice will be opening in theaters only.

That said, if the movie follows the new standard many theaters are adhering to of 45 days in theaters, then Alice will be available on demand around the first or second week of May 2022.

IS ALICE ON HBO MAX?

No. Alice is not a Warner Bros. movie. Also, HBO Max will no longer be streaming theatrical movies in 2022. (Last year, Warner Bros. opted to simultaneously release its theatrical slate on streaming, meaning HBO Max subscribers could watch movies like Matrix Resurrections at home. This year, however, Warner Bros. theatrical movies will have a 45-day theaters-only run before moving to HBO Max.)

WILL ALICE BE ON NETFLIX?

Alice is not on Netflix. While it is possible the Keke Palmer movie will be on Netflix someday, it will not be any time soon. If you’re dying to see the movie, you’ll either want to catch Alice in the theaters or wait for it to come to VOD, most likely no later than May 2022.
