‘The View’ Guest Host Lindsey Granger Debates Critical Race Theory, Ketanji Brown Jackson Confirmation With Panel

On today’s episode of The View, the ABC talk show welcomed a new guest: Daily Blast Live host Lindsey Granger, who debated with hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin as they continued to examine critical race theory, amid Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Supreme Court confirmation.

To kick things off, the panel discussed how several Congressional Republicans used the hearings as an opportunity, in Goldberg’s opinion, “to bitch.” Marsha Blackburn questioned Brown’s “hidden agenda” to “expand government’s reach into our schools” and “private family decisions,” while Josh Hawley went so far as to accuse Brown of being soft on sex offenders and child pornographers.

Granger started off by saying that Americans shouldn’t “actually give breath” to Hawley’s “erroneous” opinions. However, she did argue that Marsha Blackburn has a point in asking Brown — who resides on a school board — where she stands on critical race theory.

“Critical race theory as it stands… needs to be downsized for 7-year-olds,” Granger said.

Hostin immediately fired back, replying, “It’s not being taught to 7-year-olds… We wanna teach kids about African American history.”

Granger agreed on the latter point. “I have a 6-month-old daughter, she needs to understand Black excellence,” she said. “She needs to see more of that.”

Later, Goldberg cited a New York Times op-ed arguing that to effectively challenge the GOP, Democrats need to update their platform and take the emphasis off education being the only key to success.

Granger found the op-ed spot-on in terms of Democrats’ messaging strategy, saying that they should instead focus on getting kids back in schools.

“What’s more important, your health or your education?” Joy Behar interjected.

“I would say they’re equally important,” Granger replied. “How can you get far without an education?”

She went on to reference the alleged effects of kids wearing masks in schools, going so far as to argue that Democrats’ actions were directly responsible for keeping kids out of schools.

“I’m sorry, no. That’s not true,” Goldberg replied. “What kept them out of school was omicron and COVID. That’s what kept people out of school. That’s what kept us from going to work!”

“This is not a federal issue. It was left up to states to decide,” Granger protested, before Goldberg exclaimed, “Yeah, and you saw what happened!”

The panel ultimately found common ground, agreeing that the issue is insufficient history textbooks, not a lack of parental involvement in schools.

“We learn about all these incorrect things, and we need to see an overhaul of textbooks,” Granger said.

Goldberg agreed, adding, “Parents always had the right to go and find out what was involved in their students’ lives… parents decided now they are interested, and now they want to get involved.”
