Where To Watch Madeleine Albright’s ‘Gilmore Girls’ And ‘Parks and Rec’ Cameos

Madeleine Albright not only served as a role model to young women in real life by serving as the first female U.S. Secretary of State from 1997 to 2001, but also inspired idealistic women on TV, too. Albright, who died Wednesday at 84, made cameos as herself in multiple TV shows after her stints as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and secretary of state ended. Most notably, she appeared in episodes of Madam Secretary on CBS to offer counsel to her future fictional counterpart Elizabeth McCord, played by Tea Leoni.

But she made more memorable lighter turns before that on Gilmore Girls and Parks and Recreation.

In 2005, on Season 6, Episode 7 of Gilmore Girls, “Twenty-One Is The Loneliest Number,” Albright appeared in a dream to wake Rory up on her 21st birthday, talking to her as if she were momma Lorelai, joking that Rory could now get an early-bird discount at Denny’s, and saying “trust me, it’s fast,” when Rory says growing up feels slow. Then Rory woke up, and told her boyfriend she just dreamt Albright actually were her mother.

Seems like Albright was a fan right back.

A decade later, Albright appeared on Season 7, Episode 8 of Parks and Rec, “Ms. Ludgate-Dwyer Goes To Washington,” in which Leslie Knope and the gang also met several U.S. Senators (McCain, Booker, Hatch, Boxer, Gillibrand). But it’s Albright sitting down with Amy Poehler over waffles that got the former secretary of state to Tweeting.

She also made an uncredited cameo in the movie, The Adjustment Bureau.
