It’s been a journey full of fraud, Yoda, and deepened voices, but The Dropout has finally come to an end. This month, Hulu wrapped up its miniseries about the rise and fall of both Theranos and its founder, Elizabeth Holmes. But some stories are so good, it’s hard to say goodbye to them.

Wondering if there will be new episodes of The Dropout? Here’s everything we currently know about the future of this Hulu original.

Is The Dropout Season 2 Happening?

Unfortunately, that seems unlikely. Because it’s been marketed as a miniseries, that typically means a one season and done deal. Then there’s the real life story to keep in mind. The Dropout ends right as Theranos has fallen apart. Since this collapse is the company’s primary story, it seems improbable that it will we will see more from this series.

But there is hope — however slim — of a Season 2. When asked about the future of the series, Amanda Seyfried told Vanity Fair there should be another season after the events of the finale. “I keep putting it out there because I didn’t know how much I was going to enjoy playing her until I was done,” Seyfried said. “And then even after that, I was like, ‘I’ll never play her again.’ That was just hard. That was a lot. And now I miss it, and I feel like there’s so much more to say.”

There’s also another strong argument for a potential Season 2….

Is There a Season 2 of The Dropout Podcast?

The Dropout isn’t just based on Elizabeth Holmes’ life. It’s also based on the podcast of the same name from ABC. That podcast did have a second season, one that revolved around Holmes’ trial and what happened to Theranos’ key players after the company’s collapse.

What Could Happen in The Dropout Season 2?

If there is a Season 2 of this series, it will likely go the same way as its podcasting predecessor and cover Holmes’ trial. The 19-episode season would be a bit hard to adapt. The Dropout podcast covered Holmes’ trial in real time, leading to several speculative episodes that meandered at times. But there’s certainly enough about the trial to keep viewers hooked.

First, there’s Holmes’ new love interest, the 27-year-old heir to a hospitality empire William “Billy” Evans. It could cover the fallout between Holmes and her longtime romantic and business partner, Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani. And then there’s the pregnancy. Yes, Elizabeth Holmes is now a mother, a life change that has been heavily scrutinized as possibly being a strategy for her to get less jail time. Long story short? If in the unlikely event The Dropout Season 2 does happen, it will still be addicting.
