Gilbert Gottfried Twitter Tributes Pour In: Jon Stewart, Meghan McCain, And More Remember Iconic Comedian

A post this afternoon from the verified Twitter account of Gilbert Gottfried announced that the stand-up comedian and actor had died at age 67 “after a long illness.” It didn’t take long for Tweets to flood in to celebrate the legend’s life and legacy that has left us with his unforgettable voice that continues to breathe life into everything from classic comedy bits to the Aladdin movie and series’ parrot Iago, to podcast Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast, to a hilarious reading of 50 Shades of Grey.

Here are some of the many tributes currently flooding social media to celebrate Gottfried:

This news comes just a few months after Gottfried shared a photo of himself and comedians Bob Saget and Louie Anderson to commemorate both of the stand-ups who passed away in January. In the January 21, 2022 tweet, Gottfried wrote “This photo is very sad now. RIP Bob Saget and RIP Louie Anderson. Both good friends that will be missed.” Fans are now resharing the photo to remember the life of yet another gifted comedian gone too soon.

While it’s heartbreaking to lose three uproarious voices in such a short amount of time, we are all grateful for the joy that their work and selves have brought us through the years.

Rest in Peace, Gilbert Gottfried. Thank you for giving us so many reasons to smile.
