Millie Bobby Brown’s ‘Damsel’ Adds Robin Wright, Ray Winstone and More to Netflix Fantasy Film

Millie Bobby Brown and Netflix have a partnership that has produced some of the streamer’s most popular titles, from Stranger Things to Enola Holmes. In her latest project, the fantasy fairy tale Damsel, Brown will play Princess Elodie, a woman who thinks she is marrying a prince, only to find out that his family plans to sacrifice her to a dragon. Thrown into a pit with the fire-breather, she realizes she has to outwit the creature in order to survive.

Angela Bassett has already been announced as part of the cast, playing Lady Bayford, Elodie’s stepmother, and today several new cast members have been announced. Robin Wright, star of Netflix’s House of Cards joins the cast (we assume to offer some of her legendary Princess Buttercup energy to the film). In addition, Ray Winstone, Nick Robinson, Brooke Carter and Shohreh Aghdashloo will also star.

The film will be directed by Spanish director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, who has previously directed 28 Weeks Later, the Spanish film Intacto, and the horror thriller Intruders. Brown is executive producing the project, which is not her first time in a producer role, in addition to starring in Enola Holmes, she produced that film as well.

Damsel is one of the many projects Brown is juggling at Netflix. Stranger Things season four is set to premiere on May 27th, and a sequel to Enola Holmes was filmed in 2021 and is expected later this year. She has also been attached to star in the upcoming YA film The Thing About Jellyfish, which is based on the novel by Ali Benjamin.
