When last we left legendary Las Vegas comedian Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) at the end of the first season of Hacks, she was smarting from the start of her pivot from fake Vegas hack to truthful, vulnerable storyteller. The debut season won multiple Emmys, and Smart won the Emmy, Screen Actors Guild, Critics Choice Award, TV Critics Association Award, and the Golden Globe for leading role in the HBO Max comedy.

And now we finally a premiere date — and first teaser for Hacks Season 2.

Hacks Season 2 will premiere May 12 on HBO Max, with two episodes dropping per week, eight episodes in all, through June 2. And not only that, the date announcement was accompanied by a brief, 30 second teaser trailer for the new season that features road trips, dive bars, home shopping television appearances, dumpster diving, boats, guns, high-fives and more.

Deborah Vance’s young writer and real-life influencer on her comedy, Ava (Hannah Einbinder) is along for the ride — but based on the footage, it doesn’t seem like Deborah knows that Ava betrayed her in the Season 1 finale, quite yet. Chances are given the close quarters of a road trip, that particular secret will come out sooner rather than later. And in classic Hacks fashion, will probably have devastating impacts on both characters individually, as well as their relationship. Yay! Fun!

In addition to Smart and Einbinder, returning Season 2 cast members included Christopher McDonald, Kaitlin Olson, Paul W. Downs, Poppy Liu, Rose Abdoo, Mark Indelicato, Meg Stalter, Angela E. Gibbs, Luenell, Johnny Sibilly, Joe Mande, Ally Maki and Lorenza Izzo.

Season 2 will also welcome new recurring guest stars Laurie Metcalf, Martha Kelly, Ming-Na Wen and Susie Essman, plus Margaret Cho and Devon Sawa.
