GAC Poaches Candace Cameron Bure From Hallmark In Massive New Deal: “GAC Fits My Brand Perfectly”

The Christmas Queen continues to reign over holiday programming… But no longer with Hallmark. Candace Cameron Bure is one of several actors and actresses to leave Hallmark for GAC Family.

GAC Family, formerly known as Great American Country/GAC, is a cable TV company that was founded in 1995 as a country music channel and has since been rebranded under GAC Media to include lifestyle programming revolving around the American Midwest and South. Last year, the channel rebranded to follow the family-oriented entertainment focus of Hallmark, for whom current GAC Media president and CEO Bill Abbott used to work.

Now, Abbott is using everything Hallmark taught him to help his new company usurp his old one, and this deal with Bure is surely going to help make that even more likely. Today, GAC Family announced that Abbott signed a deal with the 46 year-old former Full House actress that will allow her to produce and star in programming for GAC Media channels GAC Family and GAC Living. Abbott has been quick to express how big of an acquisition this is for his company.

“Candace is adored by generations of fans as one of family entertainment’s most cherished and relatable stars,” he said of Bure in a recent a statement. “She has helped build this genre into the mainstream success it is today, and I look forward to working together at GAC Media as we further establish our brands as leaders in quality family programming. I am truly honored that she has chosen to be a part of and help curate her special brand of family entertainment here at Great American Channels.”

Bure has the experience of starring in over 20 Hallmark movies and hosting additional shows and specials for the channel over the years, but it seems unlikely that her newfound heavy involvement in the future of GAC Media will give her much time to continue with her old stomping grounds. While Bure’s current status with Hallmark is uncertain, what’s sure is that she is looking ahead to a bright future with her new home.

In a statement of her own regarding the signing of this mega-deal, the actress shared, “I’m very excited to develop heartwarming family and faith-filled programming and make the kind of stories my family and I love to watch. I am constantly looking for ways that I can inspire people to live life with purpose.”

Clearly, Bure is keen to continue to rule over Christmas, even if she’ll be doing it from a whole new throne. She has expressed how she feels her own values align with those of her new employer’s, and looks forward to the possibilities to come from this new union of creative minds.

“GAC fits my brand perfectly,” she continued to gush in her statement about her new collaborators. “Great, quality entertainment with a positive message is what my partnership with GAC is all about.”
