Ending Explained

‘365 Days: This Day’ Ending, Explained: Does Laura Die in ‘365 Days 2’?

Warning: This article contains major 365 Days 2 spoilers. Read it at your own risk.

The sequel to Netflix’s controversial steamy Polish thriller, 365 dni, is now streaming, and it’s more erotic and problematic than ever.

365 Days: This Day, which was released on Netflix last week, picks up where the first film left off. Laura (Anna-Maria Sieklucka) has just married her kidnapper-turned-man-of-her-dreams, Massimo (Michele Morrone), but the marriage is already off to a rocky start. What?! A marriage built on a foundation of literal kidnapping isn’t the basis for a healthy relationship? Color me shocked. But don’t worry, in lieu of open and honest communication, the newlyweds are having a bunch of kinky sex.

We know you probably weren’t watching this movie for the plot, so if you lost the thread of what, exactly, was going on, there’s no need to fret. Decider is here to help. Read on for the 365 Days: This Day plot summary and the 365 Days: This Day ending explained.

WHAT IS 365 DAYS: THIS DAY ABOUT? 365 DAYS 2 PLOT:

Laura (Anna-Maria Sieklucka) survived the tunnel attack at the end of the first movie, but she lost her unborn baby. Her mob-boss-kidnapper-turned-fiancé Massimo (Michele Morrone) doesn’t know that Laura was ever pregnant. The two get married and have a lot of sex on their honeymoon. The only person who knows about the baby that Laura lost is her friend Olga (Magdalena Lamparska), and Olga has been busy lately having sex with Massimo’s associate Domenico (Otar Saralidze).

After the honeymoon, Laura becomes quickly bored by her housewife role, while Massimo is off doing mafia things. Massimo insists he is keeping her safe, but a rift in the relationship forms, and Laura starts flirting with the sexy gardener, Nacho (Simone Susinna). When Laura walks in on her husband having sex with his ex, Anna, she leaves him and goes to stay with Nacho. But little does she know, it was not her husband that Anna was having sex with… it was his twin brother! Dun dun dun!

WHAT IS THE 365 DAYS 2 ENDING, EXPLAINED?

Thinking Massimo was cheating on her, Anna begins an affair with Nacho. Long story short, it turns out Nacho is the son of a mob boss himself, Don Matos, and is one of Massimo’s rivals. Don Matos is the one who orchestrated the tunnel attack at the end of the first movie, and now he, Anna, and Massimo’s twin brother are trying to force Massimo to hand the family mafia business over to his brother, whom they can more easily control.

Nacho insists that though he lied to her about his identity, he truly did fall in love with Laura. When Massimo refuses to hand over the family business to his brother, the brother and Anna kidnap Laura. Nacho and Massimo team up to save her. In a dramatic, slow-mo shoot-out, Anna shoots Laura in the side, Nacho shoots Anna in the chest, and Massimo shoots his brother in the shoulder. Nacho, unharmed, looks as though he might shoot Massimo, but then drops his gun and leaves. The movie hands with Massimo holding Laura’s bloodied body.

DOES LAURA DIE IN 365 DAYS 2?

No. Though the end of the first movie left the audience in suspense as to whether Laura survived the attack in the tunnel, at the beginning of the sequel, we see that she is safe and sound. It looks like movie number two is pulling a similar stunt—though Laura’s fate is left ambiguous, those who have read the book series by Blanka Lipińska know that she will pull through, and be back for 365 Days 3.

WILL THERE BE A 365 DAYS 3 MOVIE?

Yes! 365 Days 3 was filmed at the same time as 365 Days 2, so there is more of Laura and Massimo’s story to come. Read more about what we know so far about the third 365 Days movie here.
