Adam Sandler Is a Desperate NBA Scout in the Trailer for Netflix’s ‘Hustle’

From the looks of the trailer, the new Adam Sandler film Hustle, which is coming to Netflix on June 8, is your classic underdog sports story. The film stars Sandler as Stanley Sugarman, a basketball scout whose career is waning. Desperate to prove he can still find great talent for his team, the Philadelphia 76ers, Sugarman puts his life on hold, to the chagrin of his wife, played by Queen Latifah, and his daughter, played by Jordan Hull. (Like that other classic underdog sports story, Rocky, the film was set in and around Philadelphia and uses the backdrop of the city to tell its story.)

When Stanley discovers baller Bo Cruz (played by real life Spanish basketball phenom Juancho Hernangómez, who currently plays for the Utah Jazz), he puts his career on the line to show that he still knows good talent when he sees it, and proceeds to train Cruz for a chance to make it into the NBA.

The film was co-produced by Sandler and LeBron James, and the all-star cast is rounded out by Ben Foster, Robert Duvall, SNL star Heidi Gardner, and former NBA player Kenny Smith. (Kevin Garnett and his championship ring are nowhere to be found in this film, but you can find them in Uncut Gems.)

Hustle marks Sandler’s ninth collaboration with Netflix, which include the very diverse, genre-spanning titles Hubie Halloween, Murder Mystery, Sandy Wexler, and The Meyerowitz Stories.
