Tom Brady Snags Job as Fox’s Lead Football Analyst After Leaving NFL

Tom Brady’s surprising career moves keep on coming. The quarterback left the New England Patriots after playing for the team for 20 years, after becoming a free agent and signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Though he’s only been with the Bucs since the 2020 season, he’s already got his next big job lined, up: today it was announced that Brady will become the lead NFL analyst for Fox Sports. The only question is when he’ll assume the role.

Lachlan Murdoch, CEO of Fox, stated on a call today that, “it is entirely up to him when he chooses to retire and move into what will be an exciting television career, that is up to him to make that choice when he sees fit.”

Brady will join lead play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt calling NFL games, but in a tweet about his new role, he seemed in no hurry to take the job just yet, writing that he still has “unfinished business on the field.”

Brady, who is 44, announced his retirement from the NFL in February 2022, only to change his mind in March using the same “unfinished business” language that he did in today’s tweet. On March 13, he wrote, “These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business LFG.”

Let’s not lose sight of the real unfinished business though, which is that Brady will be co-starring with Lily Tomlin, Rita Moreno, Sally Field, and Jane Fonda in a road trip comedy (!) called 80 For Brady. A premiere date for that film has not yet been set.
