Whoopi Goldberg Sprays Down Sunny Hostin During Chat About “Gorgeous” Nude Jesse Williams: “Cool Off!”

Whoopi Goldberg extinguished a steamy chat on The View this morning when her co-host Sunny Hostin got a little too animated about Jesse Williamsleaked nude photos. Hostin was literally cooled off by Goldberg, who left her seat at the panel to spray her down during a chat about the images, which were shared online this week after being taken by an audience member watching Williams’ performance in Take Me Out on Broadway.

Hostin said she had seen the photos — which show Williams fully nude during a scene from the baseball-themed play — firsthand, telling her co-hosts, “I got a lot of pictures sent to me when this happened, when the photo and video got leaked on Twitter, and I was like, ‘Oh my! Is this Jesse Williams from Grey’s Anatomy?'”

Her excitement faded after Hostin saw others reacting to the leaked photos as a form of sexual harassment. Hostin said she felt “terribly,” especially after learning that Take Me Out audience members were banned from bringing phones into the show and had been instructed to lock them up.

Still, that guilt didn’t seem to prevent her from enjoying the photos too much: “Jesse Williams looks like a specimen,” Hostin gushed. “He looks gorgeous, he looks beautiful. His body is beautiful, and I have at least — and this is serious — 20 friends that have now bought tickets because of what they saw.”

Williams’ reaction to the leak cleared her conscience, Hostin explained. After seeing the actor’s nonchalant response to his nude scene, Hostin said, “I love that he’s saying, ‘Listen, it’s a body.’ So he doesn’t seem to feel like he has been harassed. He doesn’t seem to feel like he has been shamed, and that makes me feel a little better about the fact that I did stare at the pictures for a ridiculously long amount of time.”

Whoopi Goldberg, who argued that the response to the leaked nudes would be different if Williams was a woman, weighed in by saying, “The body is the body. We’ve seen it nude onstage, it has been happening forever. But somehow, this one got people.”

Hostin, one of those “people,” replied, “He looks like a statue, looks beautiful … he looks like the David.”

As Hostin went on and on about how “gorgeous” Williams looks, Goldberg whipped out a spray bottle emblazoned with The View logo and pointed it at her, a gesture Hostin literally welcomed with open arms. Goldberg then walked over to Hostin, who sat ready for a spritz with her neck outstretched. While armed with the spray bottle, Goldberg yelled, “Cool off!” putting an end to the chat — and Hostin’s fervor — altogether.

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
