FOX Announces 2022-2023 Schedule: Are ‘9-1-1’ And ‘The Resident’ Renewed?

UPDATED 5/17/22 AT 10:10 AM ET:  FOX announced Monday evening that they have renewed both 9-1-1 and The Resident for their sixth seasons, both of which will air as part of the 2022-23 lineup.

FOX is freshening up its 2022-23 slate with six new series, but has yet to determine the future of some of its most popular titles. The network announced on an executive conference call this morning that they will be adding three new dramas, two animated comedies and one unscripted series.

Although FOX is renewing multiple series, two of its biggest hits — 9-1-1 and The Resident — have not yet been confirmed to come back to the network. Deadline reports that 9-1-1 and its spinoff, 9-1-1: Lone Star, as well as The Resident, are produced by 20th Television, which is no longer part of Fox after its Disney acquisition.

On Monday’s call, Charlie Collier, CEO of FOX Entertainment, addressed the pending renewals of 9-1-1 and The Resident.

“We are doing a different type of upfront this year … We have a feeling you guys will have a schedule well in advance of when you need it,” he said. “We’re in good faith negotiations with 20th and based on our long history with that company we think we’re in pretty good shape.”

While FOX hasn’t yet locked in 9-1-1 and The Resident, they have renewed plenty of favorites, including 9-1-1: Lone Star, The Cleaning Lady, Call Me Kat, Welcome to Flatch, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers, The Great North, Housebroken, The Masked Singer, Crime Scene Kitchen and Hell’s Kitchen.

FOX is also bringing a handful of new shows to their schedule. Joining the 2022-2023 lineup are three dramas: Monarch, a family drama about a country star starring Susan Sarandon, Trace Adkins and Anna Friel; Accused, a crime anthology series from the executive producers of Homeland and 24; and Alert, a missing persons series from Jamie Foxx.

Two new animated comedies are also coming to FOX: Jon Hamm‘s Grimsburg, and Krapopolis from Rick and Morty‘s Dan Harmon starring Ted Lasso‘s Hannah Waddingham.

FOX is also continuing its long-running relationship with Gordon Ramsey, who is creating another unscripted show for the network. The celebrity chef is looking for fresh talent in the food world on Gordon Ramsey’s Food Stars.
