Woman Crush Wednesday: Get to Know Newest ‘Stranger Things’ Star Amybeth McNulty

It may already be the last week of May, but we’re here to press pause on the speedy passage of time in order to celebrate our final Woman Crush Wednesday of the month. This week, we’re celebrating an amazing up-and-coming 20 year-old actress whose career continues to blossom and grow in impressive new ways with every year. You’re going to be seeing a lot of her in the future so do yourselves a favor and become fans now (if you weren’t already). So, without further ado, give it up for your WCW, the magnificent Amybeth McNulty!

WHO’S THAT GAL: Amybeth McNulty

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: McNulty is set to join the cast of mega-hit Netflix Original title Stranger Things for its highly-anticipated fourth season as Vickie, and can be seen on the series when Season 4, Volume 1 drops this Friday, May 27. The beloved sci-fi horror drama series is back and more spine-tingling than ever, and reunites us with our beloved characters whilst introducing us to new ones, leaving the main gang now split apart, as Eleven (Brown) and the Byers (Ryder, Heaton, Schnapp) have relocated to California, Hopper (Harbour) is imprisoned in Russia, and everyone else in back in Hawkins, Indiana. Yet no matter where they are, there’s no escaping the dangers and horrors that always seem to find them. And as if high school wasn’t scary enough as it is, a horrifying new supernatural threat emerges to present a ghastly mystery that has the potential to finally end the terrors of the Upside Down once and for all. See McNulty and the rest of the cast kill it in Stranger Things Season 4, Volume 1 as soon as it drops, only on Netflix.

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: McNulty’s professional onscreen career began in 2014, with an appearance as Young Agatha in an episode of Sky One and Acorn TV comedy-drama series Agatha Raisin, and starred as Ariadne Pleasant in short adventure-comedy film A Risky Undertaking. She then swiftly accumulated recurring work in TV shows The Sparticle Mystery and Clean Break and acted in 2016 sci-fi thriller film Morgan before landing her big break in 2017, playing titular main character Anne Shirley on Canadian title Anne with an E. Loosely adapted from Lucy Maud Montgomery’s 1908 classic children’s novel Anne of Green Gables, the family-drama series grew internationally popular on Netflix, giving McNulty an even wider fanbase, and winning her a Canadian Screen Award and ACTRA Toronto Award in the process.

Since starting her work on Anne with an E, McNulty has continued to build up her already impressive filmography with roles in 2021 feature films thriller Black Medicine and drama All My Puny Sorrows. With all of this success and skill hard-earned already so early in her career, we have no doubt that McNulty has so much excitement still in store, and we look forward to being her fan and watching her work for many years to come!

WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: Luckily, you won’t have to wait too much longer to see more from McNulty. The actress is set to star as Charlie in upcoming thriller film Maternal, which begins with 16-year-old Charlie McLeod getting into a serious car accident on the way to her father’s wedding, leaving her fighting for her life. Though she ultimately survives, a brief period where she died on the table allows Charlie to reconnect with her deceased mother, Claire (Megan Follows), who was so moved to meet her daughter once more that she is convinced Charlie is meant to be with her in the afterlife, and goes to great lengths to make that a reality.

For even more from McNulty while you wait for her spine-tingling new film to come out, be sure to follow her on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube so that you never miss a moment from your latest WCW!
