Peaky Blinders has been off our screen for nearly two years because of the COVID pandemic. But good news: Season 6 is finally on Netflix today, after being broadcast on BBC One starting back in February. Bad news, though: this is the last season of Peaky Blinders.

…Or is it? If you’ve just finished Peaky Blinders Season 6 on Netflix (and good on you for getting through it so quickly), you might be wondering whether there will be a Peaky Blinders Season 7 coming to Netflix. Read on to find out, though you’ve probably already figured out the answer.

Will there be a Peaky Blinders Season 7 on Netflix?

The answer is no. Bummer right? However, the showrunners are giving us a movie, so the Peaky Blinders story isn’t over quite yet.

What do we know about the Peaky Blinders movie?

The show’s creator, Steven Knight, told Deadline, “While the TV series is coming to an end, the show will continue in another form.”

Since Knight announced Season 6 would be ending the series in January, he spoke with the outlet to calm everyone’s nerves. “COVID changed our plans,” Knight told Deadline on Jan. 17, just one day after announcing the series would be wrapping. “But I can say that my plan from the beginning was to end Peaky with a movie. That is what is going to happen.” 

While much of the plot has yet to be revealed, Knight has teased a few details about what could take place in the Peaky Blinders movie — including that it will be set during World War II.

He told the Radio Times, “I know what’s going to happen in those stories, and it’s about a sort of untold story that happened in the Second World War, which Peakys are going to be involved in.”

According to reports from Variety, the film is set to start production in 2023, so there’s a little way to go. 

Will the Peaky Blinders movie be on Netflix?

Since it hasn’t even started filming yet, it’s too early to say whether Peaky Blinders: The Movie or whatever it ends up being titled will end up on Netflix. Since the previous seasons all headed there, chances are good. But with the streaming world in flux lately, it’s possible there may be a change of plans. Fingers crossed, because we need more Peaky in our lives.
