The Terminal List

July has already been quite the month when it comes to streaming.

On Friday, our world was turned… upside down… when the final two episodes of Stranger Things Season 4 debuted on Netflix. We’ve also been streaming a pair of FX originals, The Old Man and The Bear, as well as rewatching classic episodes of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. As if that weren’t enough, all eight episodes of Chris Pratt’s The Terminal List recently dropped on Amazon.

Based on Jack Carr’s best-selling novel of the same name, The Terminal List follows the story of James Reece (Pratt), a Navy SEAL whose platoon is ambushed during a high-stakes covert mission. Per Amazon, “Reece returns home to his family with conflicting memories of the event and questions about his culpability. However, as new evidence comes to light, Reece discovers dark forces working against him, endangering not only his life, but the lives of those he loves.”

If you’ve already watched all eight episodes, you’re probably wondering about a potential second season. Here’s everything we know about a possible Season 2 of The Terminal List.

HAS THE TERMINAL LIST BEEN RENEWED FOR SEASON 2?

Nope, but that’s completely normal. The series only premiered on July 1, 2022!

WILL THERE BE A SEASON 2 OF THE TERMINAL LIST ON AMAZON?

This one’s a bit tricky. The Terminal List is currently the number one show on Prime Video’s Top 10 list, but the series earned a less than impressive 36% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes. That said, there are a variety of factors pointing to a possible renewal.

While the series isn’t a critical favorite, the show does have a 93% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes (and 8.1/10 on IMDb). Plus, during a recent interview with Screen Rant, both head writer David DiGilio and author Jack Carr expressed interest in expanding the franchise, with DiGilio revealing that they “have a roadmap for each season” ahead of them. Season 1 of The Terminal List is based on Carr’s first book, so it’s certainly possible that future installments would follow one of Carr’s other four novels in the James Reece series.

Amazon has given additional seasons to similar shows (Bosch, Reacher, and Jack Ryan), but the future of The Terminal List may rest on Chris Pratt’s busy schedule. Based on all the above factors, we believe there’s a 65% chance the series will return for Season 2. We’ll update this story with any new information.

WHEN WILL THE TERMINAL LIST SEASON 2 BE ON AMAZON?

Since there’s no official news regarding a second season release date, the only relevant data we have are the release schedules for similar Amazon shows. From Season 3 to Season 6, new episodes of Bosch would premiere about a year after the previous season dropped on Prime Video (with other seasons taking about 13-14 months). Jack Ryan’s pre-Covid release schedule (Season 1 to Season 2) was 14 months. If The Terminal List is renewed, we expect the series to follow a similar schedule.

With those dates in mind (and if the show is given a second season), we expect Season 2 of The Terminal List to premiere in early 2024 on Amazon.

IS THE TERMINAL LIST ON NETFLIX OR HULU?

Nope. The series is exclusive to Amazon.
