11 Best New Movies on Netflix: July 2022’s Freshest Films to Watch

Netflix is coming in hot with some seriously superb films and specials throughout July. This month, Netflix is welcoming in a whole array of terrific titles that will do everything from delight you with laugh-out-loud hilarity to invigorate you with interactivity, and more. Whether you’re looking for something relaxing, great for a date, or new from overseas, Netflix has got you covered. Keep reading for the streamer’s best new movies coming this July.

Netflix is starting the month off strong, kicking things off with tried and true fan-favorite movies like Old School and The Dark Knight Rises, in addition to serving up brand new Netflix Original titles like fun, summery romantic-comedy Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between and family-friendly animated adventure The Sea Beast.

Moving further into the month, the platform is debuting even more original titles to beef up their already-stacked catalog of hits. Mid-July releases like Persuasion and The Gray Man in particular are highly-anticipated releases with star-studded casts and heart-pounding plots that are sure to make them stand-out films destined for the Netflix Top 10.

'Persuasion'

Adapted from Jane Austen’s highly underrated 1818 novel of the same name (which was also the the prolific author’s final novel), Persuasion is a romantic-drama film that follows Anne Elliot (Dakota Johnson), who is still single at 27 years-old (the horror!), and as a result, is seen as past her prime for marriage. Eight years after Anne was persuaded not to marry Captain Frederick Wentworth (Cosmo Jarvis), a dashing man of humble origins, they meet again, giving her a surprise second chance to have a love story of her own. Henry Golding also stars alongside Johnson and Jarvis in this swoon-worthy new Netflix Original film that is the perfect watch for some good ol’ escapist summer streaming.

'The Gray Man'

This big-name action-thriller film revolves around CIA black ops mercenary (Ryan Gosling) known by the names of Court Gentry and Sierra Six, who has just accidentally uncovered some dark CIA secrets, therefore making him a prime target for international assassins. At the same time, Court is being hunted down by his psychotic former colleague Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), who is leading the fray when it comes to the “honor” of eliminating him. In addition to Gosling and Evans, this heart-pounding Netflix Original also stars Ana de Armas, Shanush, Jessica Henwick, Regé-Jean Page, Wagner Moura, Julia Butters, Alfre Woodard, and Billy Bob Thornton.

However, the arrival of a cunning cat burglar (Anne Hathaway) and a merciless terrorist named Bane (Tom Hardy) force Batman out of self-imposed exile and drag him into a final brutal battle he may not be able to win. He then tries to get back on his feet and start fresh by moving into a new place in Upstate New York, which just so happens to be near fictional institution Harrison University’s campus campus. Two of Mitch’s best bros, Frank Ricard (Will Ferrell) and Beanie Campbell (Vince Vaughn), start hanging out at Mitch’s house, and end up eventually turning the place into a place for wild parties, much to the frustration and detriment of the college’s dean, Gordon “Cheese” Pritchard (Jeremy Piven). Relive the fun of this raucous 2003 comedy by giving it a watch this month on Netflix.
