Actress Q’orianka Kilcher, who stars on the Paramount series Yellowstone as Angela Blue Thunder, and has appeared in the films Pocahontas and The New World, has been charged with workers compensation fraud after illegally collecting over $96,000 in disability benefits. An investigation by the California Department of Insurance claims that Kilcher reported to work on the set of Yellowstone while continuing to collect temporary disability insurance benefits. The news was first reported by Deadline.
Kilcher claims to have sustained neck and shoulder injuries in October, 2018 while working on the film Dora and the Lost City of Gold where she played the Incan Princess Kawillaka. According to her insurance claims, she was too injured to accept roles after the injury, but records show that she continued to claim disability benefits even while filming Yellowstone from July to October 2019.
The actress has already been arraigned on the charges and is scheduled for a court date on August 7 in Los Angeles. Most recently she has appeared in the Channing Tatum film Dog, and she has been cast in the upcoming film Yesteryear.
