Now is a great time to be a fan of South Park. Not only did this year start with a brand new season, but this summer has seen the release of not one but two South Park specials. The first half of South Park The Streaming Wars premiered in June, and Part 2 landed on Paramount+ in July.

That is a lot of time spent with Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. But there’s still more ridiculous adventures to come. Here’s what we know so far about when you can expect new episodes and specials from this chronically controversial show.

Will There Be Another South Park Special on Paramount+?

There certainly will be. Paramount+ announced its deal with Matt Stone and Trey Parker in August of 2021. That $900 million deal included 14 specials as well as a series renewal through Season 30. Because we’ve only seen four of these movies to date, we can expect to see at least 10 more in the years to come. At the rate the streaming service has released these projects, that’s likely five more years of hourlong South Park movies.

When Will the Next South Park Movie Be on Paramount+?

That’s a bit harder to determine. During the Television Critics Association’s 2022 winter tour, Paramount+’s Chief Programming Officer Tanya Giles confirmed that two specials would be released in 2022. “Not necessarily always at the end of the year, not necessarily two part events. We’re keeping those options open,” Giles said. “Like we said, we’re incredibly flexible in terms of bringing those stories to Paramount+. But there will be two this year.”

That means that we’ve seen the last special for 2022. As for how these specials will look moving forward, it’s best to look to the past. Both 2021 and 2022 have seen the premieres of two South Park specials each. Based on that, it’s reasonable to think that 2023 will continue that trend.

Long story short? We’re probably going to have to wait until 2023 before we see more of these made for TV movies.
