New Movies On Demand: ‘Jurassic World Dominion,’ ‘The Black Phone’ + More

Who doesn’t love seeing familiar characters returning to the screen? In this week’s new movies on VOD some well-loved characters from some of our favorite franchises return with new stories to tell. Are you up for a feature-length version of Bob’s Burgers (let’s call it… The Bob’s Burgers Movie)? Or maybe you want to check out one of the biggest films of the year that concludes one of the biggest trilogies of late, Jurassic World: Dominion? You’re in luck!

Plus, Quinta Brunson and Ayo Edebiri, two of our favorite breakout TV stars of 2022, both appear in the new indie film As Of Yet, which was written by and co-stars comedian Taylor Garron. Garron stars as Naomi, a Brooklynite navigating love during the pandemic who spends her time FaceTiming her friends, played by Brunson and Edebiri, and her roommate Sara, played by Eva Victor. The film was produced by the Duplass Brothers and won the Nora Ephron Award at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival.

The Bob’s Burgers Movie

The Bob’s Burgers Movie dropped this week on Hulu, HBO Max, and on VOD, so there are plenty of places for you to check out this film version of the beloved animated series which is an all-around delight that honors everything we love about the Belcher family. In this feature-length version of the show, Bob Belcher (H. Jon Benjamin), the owner of Bob’s Burgers, along with his wife Linda (John Roberts), and their three children, Tina (Dan Mintz), Gene (Eugene Mirman) and Louise (Kristen Schaal), are dealing not only with massive debt they need to find a way out of, but a murder mystery, after a dead body is discovered in a sinkhole in front of the restaurant. The film has all the heart of the series, but with a slightly longer running time and a slightly more involved plot… I guess you could say this burger raises the steaks. (Steaks? Stakes? Get it!?)

Jurassic World: Dominion

Jurassic World Dominion has been billed at the final film in the Jurassic Park series, concluding not just the recent trilogy reboot, but the entire franchise. The film reunites the stars of the original film, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, with the stars of the new versions, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, creating a sendoff that’s a fan service-y blockbuster full of dino action we’ve come to expect from the films over the last 29 years. The film comes to VOD as something of a surprise, it’s release was announced just this week and it’s arriving earlier than many anticipated, so if you haven’t seen it yet, set some time aside this weekend to check it out.
