The Office star Craig Robinson had to cancel his stand-up routine at a North Carolina comedy club after an active shooter incident at the venue. A gunman opened fire inside The Comedy Zone, where Robinson was scheduled to perform, on Saturday (July 16), NBC News reports. Nobody at the venue was injured in the incident and the unidentified suspect was taken into custody, per NBC.

Robinson detailed the incident on Instagram, where he posted a video from a concert later that night. He explained that he had been in the Comedy Zone’s green room at the time of the shooting and was evacuated from the venue and moved next door, to the Metro Credit Union Amphitheater, where the band Big Time Rush was performing.

“I’m performing at the Comedy Zone in Charlotte, North Carolina. There was an active shooter in the comedy club. So they moved us over to this — there’s a concert going on, and it’s Big Time Rush, so I thought I’d just share with y’all,” he said in the video.

“Big Time Rush to the rescue,” Robinson said with a laugh. He later added, “I’m safe. It’s cool. It was wild, I was in the green room and they’re like ‘Everybody get out.’ It was a moment, for sure.”

Robinson shared an additional post Sunday (July 17) thanking the first responders and expressing gratitude that nobody was hurt in the shooting.

“Thank you to the Comedy Zone security and staff for getting us to safety quickly. Thank you everyone for your outpouring of support and well wishes. Thank you to CMPD for swift action in apprehending the shooter. Hopefully he gets the help he needs. Thanks be to God no one was hurt. Please stay safe everyone.”

Robinson, who is best known for his role as Darryl Philbin in The Office, has also starred in Hot Tub Time Machine, This Is the End and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Robinson currently leads his own Peacock comedy, titled Killing It.
