To binge watch or not to binge watch… that is the question.

Fans who’ve already devoured all 12 episodes of the fourth season of Virgin River have one simple query: When the heck will Virgin River Season 5 arrive on Netflix?! Thankfully, we have some good news to share. First, Virgin River has already been renewed for a fifth season! Not only that, production on Season 5 has already started!

We know there’s more Virgin River in our future, but when exactly can we expect to see new episodes? When will Virgin River Season 5 premiere on Netflix? Here’s everything we know.

HAS VIRGIN RIVER BEEN RENEWED FOR SEASON 5?

Yes! Thankfully, we haven’t seen the last of this beloved dramedy. Back in September of 2021, Netflix renewed Virgin River for a fourth and fifth season.

WHEN WILL VIRGIN RIVER SEASON 5 BE ON NETFLIX?

*** UPDATE (7/25/23): Virgin River Season 5, Part 1 debuts September 7, 2023, on Netflix! Part 2, which consists of two holiday episodes, premieres November 30 on the streamer. ***

Netflix has yet to announce an official release date, but based on recent history we have a pretty good idea of when the series might return for a fifth season.

Season 1 Premiere Date: December 6, 2019
Season 2 Premiere Date: November 27, 2020
Season 3 Premiere Date: July 9, 2021
Season 4 Premiere Date: July 20, 2022

Thanks to Virgin River’s Instagram page, we know the series has already started production on Season 5, with What’s on Netflix reporting that shooting is expected to conclude in November. Just like Season 4, the fifth season will consist of 12 episodes. While it’s fair to predict a July 2023 release date, the show’s early renewal could lead to a spring of 2023 premiere. Netflix’s Cobra Kai had a similar release schedule, with Seasons 3 and 4 debuting one year apart, but Season 5 (which like Virgin River earned an early renewal) premiering nine months after the fourth season finale.

Based on the above information, we expect Virgin River Season 5 to debut in late spring/early summer of 2023, with our best guess being May of 2023. We’ll update this story as new information becomes available.
