Maya Rudolph Preps For a Date in ‘Loot’ Exclusive Clip

The rumors are true, Loot fans: Molly Wells is getting back in the dating game. With a little help from her friends, of course.

In Episode 7 of the Apple TV+ comedy, the recently divorced billionaire played by Maya Rudolph is finally putting herself out there romantically with handsome, grown-up vodka bottle baby Jean-Pierre Voland (Olivier Martinez). When we first met Jean-Pierre in Episode 6, “The Philanthropic Humanitarian Awards,” we learned he’s a wealthy philanthropist whose family owns a vodka company. He shows an immediate interest in Molly and her foundation, asks her out after she wins an award, and says he’ll call her soon so they can collaborate.

The description for Loot‘s seventh episode “French Connection” reads, “Molly travels to Jean-Pierre’s vineyard for a date…or is it?” But before Molly can go on a date with a hot guy, her right-hand woman Sofia (Michaela Jaé Rodriguez) obviously has to do a little online snooping and make sure he’s single.

This exclusive clip from Loot Episode 7 shows Sofia taking control of the conference room to check Jean-Pierre’s marital status, net worth ($12.1 billion!), bankruptcy history, Instagram account, friend group diversity, Reddit presence, and dating history. Now that’s what we call a friend! Because Sofia’s a pro at this she can tell Jean-Pierre broke up with his girlfriend nine months ago, and she even goes so far as to raise potential red flags, like a photo of Jean-Pierre with Ashton Kutcher, which Molly allows.

After a speedy, thorough internet sweep, Sofia’s colleagues stare at her in amazement.

“What? I’ve had a lot of exes. I live for this shit,” she says.

The clip ends with Molly receiving a perfectly-timed text from Jean-Pierre, who invites her to his vineyard. We’re still a little skeptical of this man, because Molly’s ex-husband John Novak (Adam Scott) gave us trust issues. But since Sofia’s search points to Jean-Pierre likely being single, we’ll support a date.

Be sure to tune in to see if Jean-Pierre is a stud or a dud when “French Connection” streams on Apple TV+ Friday, July 22.
