Zac Efron Poses in Front of ‘High School Musical’ Building Weeks After Vanessa Hudgens

High School Musical fans can always bet on Zac Efron. The actor stopped by his alma mater, East High School, to pose for a photo he posted to Instagram this afternoon, giving fans a flashback Friday to his days a Wildcat.

Efron, who starred in three High School Musical films — the 2006 phenomenon that started it all, plus High School Musical 2 (2007) and High School Musical 3: Senior Year (2008) — as basketball star Troy Bolton, returned to his roots Friday in the photo, which shows him raising his fist in the air Judd Nelson style while standing in front of the building where High School Musical was filmed.

Efron captioned the photo with a nod to John Hughes’ The Breakfast Club, writing, “Don’t you… Forget about me ✊🏼.”

His photo caught the attention of his former HSM co-star, Bart Johnson, who played Troy’s stern, basketball-loving dad. Efron and Johnson appear to have a healthier relationship than Troy and his  father, because Johnson commented, “Warms coaches ole heart to see this. Welcome home, son. WHAT TEAM!? 🏀🐾.”

Efron’s post comes not long after his HSM co-star and ex-girlfriend, Vanessa Hudgens, posted her own footage from East High. Hudgens shared a short clip to Instagram June 26 showing herself walking outside of the building and toward the camera, which she set to “Breaking Free,” an original song from the first High School Musical.

She captioned her post with a line she delivered as Gabriella Montez in High School Musical years ago, writing, “Do you remember in kindergarten how you’d meet a kid and know nothing about them, then 10 seconds later you’re playing like you’re best friends because you didn’t have to be anything but yourself?”

Interesting! Seems like these two could be cooking up some sort of HSM reunion… or maybe Gen-Z could be getting their very own Bennifer 2.0 if Efron and Hudgens get back together. Fingers crossed! Until then, only time will tell.
