‘Days of Our Lives’ to Stream Exclusively on Peacock Starting in September

Days of Our Lives is saying goodbye to network television. After more than 57 years since the long-running soap opera premiered on NBC, it’s officially making its move to the NBCUniversal-owned streaming service, Peacock. The streaming service, which has several payment tiers, will only make the show available to users paying $4.99 for the Premium tier or $9.99 for the Premium Plus tier, as reported by Nexstar.

Days of Our Lives will make the official move to Peacock on Sept. 12 while previous episodes are already available to stream on the platform. The open timeslot on the channel will be filled by NBC News Daily, an hourlong news show, which will be anchored by Kate Snow, Aaron Gilchrist, Vicky Nguyen, and Morgan Radford.

“With a large percentage of the Days of Our Lives audience already watching digitally, this move enables us to build the show’s loyal fanbase on streaming while simultaneously bolstering the network daytime offering with an urgent, live programming opportunity for partners and consumers,” Mark Lazarus, chairman of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, said in a statement, per the New York Times.

Set in the fictional town of Salem, Days of Our Lives follows several families as they navigate the trials and triumphs of life. The show, which has aired more than 14,000 episodes, was renewed for Seasons 57 and 58 by NBC in 2021 and is the network’s longest-running series.

Peacock is already the home to the soap opera’s spinoff, Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem, as well as the spinoff film, Days of Our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas. Further, the move to streaming means that there are only going to be three soap operas left on network TV: General Hospital on ABC and The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful on CBS.
