‘FBOY Island’ Season 2 Finale Twist Introduces… An FGIRL?!

FBOY Island has always been about breaking the rules. A host can’t roast the bachelors? Yes she can. There’s no room for sketch comedy in a dating show? Welcome to Limbro. A reality-romance show can’t advocate against toxic masculinity while still being a chill good time? That’s FBOY Island’s whole thing. So it makes sense that going into Season 2, the HBO Max series would start breaking some of its own rules — and this is where we throw up a SPOILER WARNING for the FBOY Island Season 2 finale.

Okay, before we get to that, we actually have to rewind back to the Season 1 finale when FBOY Island first broke one of its own rules… a very important rule. The whole conceit of the show was that if a woman chose a Nice Guy, they would split their prize money and continue on as a couple. But if the guy she chose was an FBOY, then the guy would get to choose whether he wanted to split the money or take it all and run. In the Season 1 finale, Sarah chose to go with FBOY Garrett, who then decided to take all the money and peace out. The show dropped a bombshell on Garrett when they ditched the format and instead donated all of that prize money to charity rather than see it end up with a straight up reality TV villain. Going into the Season 2 finale, precedent told us that anything could happen — and something did happen. Of course it did. Anything can happen on FBOY Island!

The show wasn’t gonna play take backsies with the prize money this time around, should a dude decide to F over his girl. But host Nikki Glaser presented the women with a third option: instead of choosing either guy, the women could choose themselves and keep all of the money. So like, even if a girl genuinely likes her Nice Guy, she has to decide if she $100,000 likes him. It’s a great twist… and you know it’s a great twist because it sets up the possibility for an even bigger second twist.

Faced with two Nice Guys, the fiery Tamaris was guaranteed a $50,000 payday no matter who she chose. But you know what’s literally more than $50,000? $100,000. Tamaris chose herself, cracking a big grin and saying…

Yup, Tamaris is an FGIRL!

Uh, the cast are super stunned, obviously. They’re left speechless, especially Casey and Niko who just got dumped on TV and lost $50,000. That’s rough but, as Tamaris explains, no one should be surprised… because she’s spent the entire season telling people that she’s an FGIRL.

In the grand tradition of every mystery movie ever, we get a montage of all of the times Tamaris inferred or straight up told guys that she was an FGIRL. She doesn’t trust people, she’s lied to guys about having feelings for them, she’s cheated before, etc. She even used the term FGIRL to describe herself twice! The funniest one in retrospect has to be when Niko asked Tamaris, “What gets you out of bed in the morning?” And Tamaris answered without hesitation, “Money. I’m a hustler.” Niko! She told you!

Wow. Tamaris came to FBOY Island to play the game on her terms, and that third option to take all the prize money fit perfectly with her game. It does make you wonder which twist came first. Did the show cast an FGIRL and then decide to give her that option? Or did Tamaris sneak her way onto the show as an FGIRL posing as a Nice Girl and luck into the perfect out? That’s left for us to wonder, but it really doesn’t matter either way. You gotta hand it to Tamaris. She saw the game as it was played in Season 1, and she saw FBOY Garrett try his best to screw over Sarah, and she said, “Hold my margarita.” Tamaris the FGIRL showed all those FBOYs how it’s done.
