Siblings Look for Love in Netflix’s Bonkers ‘Dated & Related’ Trailer

Netflix is cooking up another wacky reality dating show after the success of unconventional hits like Love Is Blind and Too Hot to Handle. And as its title suggests, the streamer’s latest offering is definitely the most taboo yet: Dated & Related.

The upcoming show sees sibling duos dating side-by-side. Or, as a chipper voiceover explains in today’s trailer, “you’ll be joined by your brother or sister, who’s also looking for love.”

The singles and their siblings will go on dates at a villa in the south of France, where they’re paired up with other family members to predictably cringey results. One contestant in today’s trailer says, “This is probably the first time I’ve kissed a girl in front of my sister,” while another asks, “I’m on a date with my brother and another brother and a sister — like, what the hell is going on here?”

At this point in the trailer, Netflix asks what you’ve likely been thinking all along. “Why would anyone do this? Because finding love isn’t easy,” a voiceover says.

Okay…but bringing your sibling along is supposed to make it easier?

Netflix attempts to explain this logic by showing the singles delivering emotional speeches to their siblings, while also claiming they can help steer their family member in the right direction while looking for love since they know them best.

“Most of the time she goes for the bad boy trap. I want to make sure she’s doing the right thing,” one brother says of his sister.

In fact, watching this trailer, the show seems to be mostly brothers supervising their sisters at the villa — in one instance, one half of a sibling duo looms over another man, warning him, “You gotta watch the way you’re talking to my sister. Don’t be disrespectful.” In another quick clip, a woman turns down a kiss because her brother is sitting nearby looking menacing.

Hopefully there’s more to the streamer’s latest reality dating offering, but we’ll just have to wait and see until Dated & Related premieres Sept. 2 on Netflix. Watch the full trailer in the video above.
