Where to Watch the ‘Predator’ Movies Ahead of ‘Prey’

The long-haired, helmet-wearing alien known as Predator is back in Prey, now streaming on Hulu.

The fifth installment in the Predator franchise, Prey serves as a prequel to the first four films and takes place in the year 1719 in the Northern Great Plains of North America. Unlike Arnold Schwarzenegger’s machine-gun-wielding character in the first movie, the protagonist in Prey doesn’t have access to big guns and explosives. She’s a Comanche Nation woman named Naru (played by Amber Midhunter), a skilled hunter who longs to prove herself as a warrior to the men in her community. And, hey, what better way to prove herself than by taking down the mysterious threat that’s been killing the buffalo?

Because this movie is a prequel, you don’t need to have watched the other Predator movies recently to keep up with what’s going on. That said, director Dan Trachtenberg and writer Patrick Aison no doubt planted some fun Easter eggs for true fans—so it couldn’t hurt to brush up on the Predator filmography.
